It’s official! According to Variety, Netflix has officially confirmed the Gilmore Girls revival we reported back in October. The streaming service has also announced that the original cast of the cancelled CW TV show will be returning for the reboot.
Gilmore Girls was cancelled in 2007 after seven seasons — for six on The WB and then, for the final year, on The CW.
Netflix confirmed that stars Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Scott Patterson, and Kelly Bishop will be on board for the revival episodes in addition to supporting cast members Sean Gunn and Keiko Agena.
Series creator Amy Sherman Palladino and her husband Daniel Palladino will be returning to write and direct all four 90-minute episodes of the reboot. Both Palladinos left the series after its penultimate season in 2006.
No word yet on when the new episodes will debut, but sets are already being built. Deadline reports that the revival is being treated as a “farewell season”.
What do you think? Who else do you hope will return for the revival? What do you hope happens in the new episodes?
I’d love to see Melissa McCarthy return! I am looking forward to this!
