Sorry, Girl Meets World fans. According to The Wrap, Netflix is not interested in picking up the cancelled Disney Channel TV series for a fourth season.
Earlier this month, we reported Disney has cancelled the Boy Meets World spin-off after three seasons. The sitcom stars Ben Savage, Danielle Fishel, Rowan Blanchard, Sabrina Carpenter, Peyton Meyer, and August Maturo.
Though no reason was given, Netflix will reportedly not pick up the show for another season despite many efforts, on the part of fans and the creators, to save the show on another network. It’s still uncertain whether or not another platform, like Hulu, will pick up the series. Creator Michael Jacobs has said there is interest and he thinks there are still more stories to tell with Girl Meets World:
“We are certainly having discussions, there are some interested platforms. I don’t think ‘Girl should have been canceled. We signed to do four seasons. I thought we would be able to tell stories through four seasons. That’s the way we set it up. It was going to be a remarkable final year. But I understand, things end.”
The series finale of Girl Meets World premieres on Disney Channel tomorrow, January 20th.
What do you think? Are you a fan of Girl Meets World? Do you want a fourth season?
If Disney Channel didn’t want it anymore, why would would a higher up service like Netflix want it.
I want at least 4 if not 8 seasons!! It is a great show just like Boy meets World was. Someone needs to give it more time on the air. Disney’s other new shows are worthless. We only watch the reruns of this show and other cancenelled shows and switch to other networks now in Prime time. Stop cancelling your best shows!
I would really like to see a 4th season of Girl Meets World on Netflix. Have enjoyed watching Boy Meets world in the past. They are good, clean entertainment. Which is refreshing when most comedy shows today have so much profanity. Get alot out of the lesson Ben tries to teach. The Show always brings a smile to my face.
I want a fourth season of girl meets world! There should be more shows like that and I think Netflix should pick up the fourth season
NOO please don’t to this PLEASE
This is a great a heart warming show. And I can tell you that the data on it not reaching some target audiences is wrong! I grew up watching boy meets world, I’m 23 now with a 5 year old son. We both like watching girl meets world together. I’d hate to see such a great and fairly popular show with so many fans just disappear. You’ve got a viewer in me if they can figure this out!
Fan Efforts are not focusing on Hulu and Amazon so they haven’t given up yet.
