The Big Bang Theory isn’t the only sitcom getting a possible spin-off. According to The Hollywood Reporter, ABC is developing a spin-off for The Goldbergs.
Set in the 1980s, the sitcom revolves around a family from Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. The cast includes Sean Giambrone, Patton Oswalt, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Troy Gentile, Hayley Orrantia, George Segal, and Jeff Garlin.
Little is known so far about the spin-off series, but it will be set in the 1990s and center “on two high school teachers who become unlikely father figures to the school secretary’s three misfit kids. It is rumored to take place in Philadelphia, where The Goldbergs is set.”
Bryan Callen, who recurs as high school gym teacher Rick Mellor on The Goldbergs, is attached to star in the spin-off. Goldbergs EP Marc Firek and creator Adam Goldberg are set to write the script.
What do you think? Are you a fan of The Goldbergs? Would you watch the spin-off series?
Great comic in Bryan and a great mentor like Coach Mellor can not miss being a comic hit.
