Officer Walter Clark’s story has been cut short. CBS has cancelled Golden Boy after one season and 13 episodes.
Airing on Tuesday nights, Golden Boy tells the tale of a young and ambitious New York cop (Theo James) who rises quickly through the department’s ranks to become the youngest Police Commissioner in NYC history. The cast also includes Chi McBride, Kevin Alejandro, Bonnie Somerville, Holt McCallany, and Stella Maeve.
The network was hoping that Golden Boy would perform better than Vegas — and for awhile, it looked like it might. Unfortunately, Golden Boy’s ratings ended up being pretty bad, particularly in the 18-49 demographic.
The episodes that have aired so far have averaged a 1.4 in the demo with 8.3 million total viewers. It’s one of the lowest-rated shows on the network.
The last episode, titled “Next Question,” will air next Tuesday night.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Golden Boy has been cancelled? What would you have liked to see in season two?
I really loved this show!! I’m so bummed to hear it’s been canceled.
I really wish they would ask the viewers for their feed back before it was just canceled. Who knows, maybe a small change to the format or time/day it aired would have made it a hit.
Bad bad CBS !
I am sad to see this one go …. I hate getting hooked on a great show and then it is just pulled, not wrapped up but just cancelled. I don’t understand how shows like this one and a couple of others that don’t seem to get a chance, but shows like the Simpson can stay on way toooo long – as a mother / grandmother this show should have gone off it’s first season (and we wonder why our kids act like they do or talk to adults (their parents) like they do, this is what the show teaches… Read more »
SCREW YOU CBS!!! This was a GREAT show!!
I cant’ believe that CBS is cancelling Golden Boy. Such a great story with a great cast. Maybe I’ll cancel CBS.
So angry about CBS canceling Golden Boy, I loved it. Maybe I’ll cancel CBS.
Golden Boy is such a well acted, refreshing new show. I can’t believe that it has been cancelled and we are left with the old stale sitcoms that are presently on tv. I am so disappointed. Hopefully another network with more sense will pick up this show.
Darn Cbs……golden boy is an awesome show. You should have given it more time. What is wrong with you? The characters and writing was fantastic. The acting was exceptional. Shame on you for dropping it and leaving us hanging. Mad!
Dear Sirs or Madams This show is awesome and touch’s on real life stories that happen in inter cities. It has the possibilities to touch on subjects that could or are affecting the younger generations and the struggles between the older generations. My mom and I watch every week to see what the writers will touch on next. We love (Theo James) Walter Clark and his partner slash father figure. We think the network is crazy out of their minds if they cancel this show!!!!!!!! In our opinion it should be on another night where there is not another show… Read more »
Golden Boy was a fresh look at a tired genre. My Dad and I made Tuesday nights appointment television, but all along we knew CBS would pull the switch and we’d never know what happened in those seven years to Clark.
The worst mistake ever canceling Golden Boy. Great writing, characters, and actors.
BOO BOO CBS
I am so disappointed that you have decided to drop this show! Great cast of characters some that you just love to hate and others you love to love! I think You’ve made a BiG mistake in cancelling this!!!
I loved Golden Boy…so mad that it is gone!!!!!
I really liked this show but that’s usually the kiss of death as I’ve seen many shows I liked cancelled over the years including 3 with the word “Justice” in the title. I’m surprised “Elementary” actually made it while I really think “The Mentalist” needs to go. Patrick Jane has become a smirking smart aleck; let him find Red John and be done with it.
As usual, CBS has no clue and no patience. For once, can you please just let a series develop?
