It’s no secret that Gracepoint on FOX is really struggling in the ratings. While we know that there’s no chance the series will be back for a second season, it looks like the show may not be on Thursday nights for long either.
Gracepoint begins when a young boy is found dead on an idyllic beach in the small northern California town of Gracepoint. The tragedy and media frenzy soon turns neighbor against neighbor as the police try to figure out what happened. The cast includes David Tennant, Anna Gunn, Michael Peña, Virginia Kull, Madalyn Horcher, Kendrick Sampson, Nick Nolte, Jacki Weaver, Kevin Rankin, Sarah-Jane Potts, Stephen Louis Grush, Kevin Zegers, Jessica Lucas, and Nikolas Filipovic.
The show is currently FOX’s lowest-rated scripted series in the coveted 18-49 demographic. It’s averaging a poor 1.0 rating with 4.09 million viewers.
The November sweeps period starts next Thursday, October 30th, and runs through November 26th. It’s important for the network financially to get as many people tuning in to their programming as possible between those dates.
As a result, it’s very likely that FOX won’t keep poorly-rated Gracepoint on the regular schedule for much longer. I suspect that they will soon announce that the series is moving to Saturday nights. Here’s why:
On the Hell’s Kitchen Facebook page, the network has posted a couple graphics that indicate that the show can be seen on Thursday nights — except the reality series currently airs on Wednesday evenings. If Hell’s Kitchen is moving to Thursdays, it’s most likely to replace struggling Gracepoint and not Bones.
Last week, the network re-aired the first two episodes of Gracepoint on Saturday night. Sports programming will fill the next two Saturday schedules. I suspect that FOX will resume airing repeats and then new episodes of Gracepoint after that — likely in pairs — until all 10 installments have run.
On the positive side, at least the network will air all of the remaining episodes and the small audience will be able to see the mystery solved.
What do you think? Do you think FOX will burn off the remaining episodes on Saturday nights? Will you still watch them if that happens?
This was one of the best shows I have ever seen. The characters and actors are so realistic. It was a true mystery. Please let there be another seson for this show. There are alot of us out here that really enjoyed it. Thankyou
This was a really great series, we looked forward to it every single week? It kept us guessing to the end. Great actors, and like this wouldn’t likely happen in today’s world – give me a break people. I had not seen a story this suspenseful in a long time – not a lot of violence, sex, or bad, bad words – Wow – didn’t think that could still happen? Just takes smart people with good writing skills – Duh!!!!
Please do not cancel Gracepoint it’s the best series I have seen in a long time. I look forward to seeing it every Thursday night.
Gracepoint is the best series I have seen in a long time, please do not cancel.
Gracepoint is the best show i’ve seen in a long time I rush home Thursday nights to be sure to catch the next show, please do not cancel.
Loved… Loved Gracepoint!!! I am very sad it has ended…….what a surprising ending!!! Why is it….. that….. when there is a great show to finally watch, it is to be cancelled????? I”m so perplexed as to where the ratings come from, does not make sense to me that everyone loves a show, then (surprise) we are told the ratings are not good enough to keep it on the air. The Actors were wonderful, the storyline was great, the setting was beautiful.
Please let there be another season of this show!!!!!
Great show, lots of characters. We need more Gracepoint!!
The final episode seemed to be cut short, like we missed the final 5 or 10 minutes of it. What happened?
It ends with Carver walking off and apparently realizing that Tom was the one who did it. But no real ending.
The way it ended was silly at best. I watched it for 10 weeks and then the writers don’t bother finishing the story.
In response to “cbj”, may I give my take on the last scene. It was a “hook” ,, I believe. If you will recall the scene before, Carver studied the phone display of the son looking at his father when he responded, ” I didn’t see anyone ELSE hit him.” Carver knows there is more to the story.. I really think the writers left this open for a second season. While I have never seen Broadchurch, I understand the story went into a second season. OK?
Please keep it. I loved the show!
Fess up ADMIN this article was total Hooey. The series is over… IN THE ORIGINAL time slot.
And in the end the series itself was total hooey, too.
TEN mis-spent hours. A tragic pity!!!
Based on FOX posting images that said Hell’s Kitchen was going to seen on Thursdays (it remained on Wednesdays), I believe the programmers changed their minds … or maybe they don’t know what night HK airs.
Grace point is a very good show I watched every episode
Great show
This is a great series and it obviously is not a Done Deal about its cancellation. Even the last scene hinted that the current story still has some room for more development. Whether or not it is a new story next season or a continuation of this one, the cast and behind the scene folks should be retained.. They did a magnificent production this year. I truly expect to see them next season.
The show is excellent. The acting is excellent. The setting is perfect. A real who done-it. It’s a shame that Hell’s Kitchen will replace it. There is no comparison between one foul mouthed, ill-mannered “chef” and a fine mystery TV series. I guess it says a lot about the type of audience Fox attracts..No wonder Fox ranks so low. It’s a great show–keep it. It’s had little advertising Advertise it, and it will catch on.
I would appreciate it if you could tell me when the final episode of gracepoint will be shown. I
We have watched the show continuously and have enjoyed every episode and are very disappointed that we are not getting the final episode on Thursday night. When can we expect to see the final episode.
You got to be kidding me! This is great show. Something has got to be wrong with how you judged the ratings… keep this show!
