Back in June 2009, it was reported that pop sensation Miley Cyrus had decided to say goodbye to Hannah Montana, the Disney Channel series that made her a star. The word is now official but there’s still plenty to come.
Hannah Montana revolves around Miley Stewart (Miley Cyrus), an average high school student. Unknown to most of her classmates, is also secretly a singing sensation named Hannah Montana. Miley moved from Tennessee to Malibu with her single-father and manager, Robby Stewart (real-life dad Billy Ray Cyrus), and her brother Jackson (Jason Earles). Miley’s family and friends, like Lilly (Emily Osment) and Oliver (Mitchel Musso), are among the few who know Hannah Montana’s true identity.
The series debuted on March 24, 2006 and has been a huge success for the Disney Channel. It’s paved the way for several successful albums, a concert, a feature film, and hundreds of related products. But, Miley Cyrus is getting older and apparently wants to move on to do other things.
In June, Miley’s father said that season four would be the last for Hannah Montana and commended his daughter for wanting to end the show in the right way.

He said, “Quite frankly, I give a lot of credit to Miley for taking it to another year. She didn’t want it to just end with whatever was the last episode we did. She wanted it to build to where there’s a moral to the story, to where it doesn’t just end and go away and that’s it. She wanted there to be an official ending to Hannah Montana.”
The Disney Channel has now confirmed that season four will indeed be the end. Adam Bonnett, Disney Channel Worldwide’s senior VP/programming, told the NY Post, “You never know in this business . . . but right now we’re scheduled to wrap [forever] after shooting this new batch of episodes.”
Thankfully for fans, there’s plenty of new episodes on the way before the big series finale. The third season of Hannah Montana will wrap up with a one-hour episode in March. It’s titled “Is Miley Saying Goodbye?” and Miley makes her big decision; to continue being Hannah Montana or to just be a regular girl.
Season four will pick up the storyline in late spring and will revolve around the ramifications of Miley’s big choice. Film actor Ray Liotta will guest star in the season opener and Two and a Half Men’s Angus T. Jones will guest star in a later episode.
The season and series will wrap up with a special one-hour series finale. It’s unknown when that will air but new episodes are expected to roll out over at least the next year.

i have a 4 year old daughter and i am HOOKed to the show just like my kid. Hannah is a great role model. it is too bad she will end her show. we will miss her.

does anyone realize that season 3 lasted 2 yrs? this final season thats 4, should be 5… season 1 was 8th grade, season 2 was 9th grade, season 3 was 10th grade, and continued into 11th grade and is now ending with 11th grade, and i’m guessing that season 4 will be 12th grade…

Anyways, I am actually proud of Miley for making a very mature decision. I remember when previews for the show back in 2006 started, I couldn’t wait. As I got a little older I just kind of lost interest in it. But still, it is sad to say there won’t be anymore new episodes. Also, I can’t wait to see what she will do next. Congrats on a very successful tv show.

Thank you I have been saying thing. If it were REALLY the end then it would be the SERIES FINALE and not Season Finale. I hope she chooses to keep the show going. She is such a great inspiration to girls of all ages.

I think that Hannah Montana will still be on because it would say series finale not season finale.I really like Hannah.If it is the season finale of corse she is going to go back to Tennesse.I can not beleive she wants to quit.Even if I was 18 I would still stay on it.

Awwwww why does it have to end?!. I guess it’s because she’s getting older and she just wants to do something different…. Yeah, Disney_fan, I guess you’re right: “It’s sad but every good show ends at some point” I really will miss watching that show, and I don’t think there will be any reruns, right? I’ll miss Miley, I really will :'(
I don’t think this is the last season. It would say series finale. I think she has one more good season and then that will be the last one. Plus it read that Miley says goodbye is the finale for the 3rd season and she’s coming back in spring for one more season , season 4 is suppose to be the last . It’s sad but every good show ends at some point.

It’s just a marketing gimmick to get viewers to watch Hannah Montana. If it’s really the last season, why are they calling it the season finale instead of the final season like “Lost”. There will be more Hannah Montana to come. She’s making way too much money from the show to quit right now.
That’s cuz this season isn’t the last one. We are now currently seeing Season 3 and there IS gonna be a next season: that would be Season 4, which will be the final season. All the episodes left in Season 3 and the upcoming Season 4 episodes are gonna be shown for this year and next year, I think. And, btw, I don’t think this is a gimmick. I think she truly believes she needs to quit…. She wouldn’t have gone through so much trouble, anyway

I’m very, very, very, sad that it’s ending. It was one of my favorite shows and to think it won’t be on anymore is seriously depressing. But I love Miley Cyrus and I’m almost 100% positive she will do greater things.
i would like to say one thing the finale is coming on soon its weather miley goes bck home to teneese or stay , but we all know if its the last then shes gonna go back home. I believe its because she would like to do another hannah movie a little later on about being home and her knew life without Hannah. I have always liked the show and cried in the movie she is turning 18 and needed to end it.
