Case closed. Court is dismissed. Harry’s Law has been cancelled by NBC after two seasons and 34 episodes.
Harry’s Law revolves around Harriet Korn, a no-nonsense attorney who will take on just about any case as long as she believes in a person’s innocence. Over the course of two seasons, the cast has also included Nate Corddry, Karen Olivo, Justine Lupe, Mark Valley, Christopher McDonald, Brittany Snow, and Aml Ameen.
The show debuted in January 2011 to a 2.2 in the 18-49 demographic with 11.07 million viewers. It was a mediocre demo rating but total viewership was impressive and when you’re NBC, that’s better than nothing. The ratings dwindled downward pretty quickly and the show ended the season with a 1.4 demo rating and 7.75 million.
The series was on the bubble for cancellation but NBC brought it back for a second season. For season two, the show underwent some cast changes, no doubt in hopes of improving the ratings. It didn’t work.

This season, Harry’s Law has averaged a meager 1.1 rating in the desirable demographic and 7.89 million viewers.
On our NBC Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative success of shows on the network, Harry’s Law has a “D+” grade and is one of the lowest-rated shows on NBC.
While it’s the second most-watched show on the network, advertisers want to advertise on shows that attract a younger demographic and so the networks must cater to them.
Sadly, the peacock network has cancelled Harry’s Law this time around and the series finale will air next Sunday night. Hopefully the show won’t end on a cliffhanger, making it all the harder for fans to say goodbye.
What do you think? Are you sorry to see Harry’s Law go? Which season did you like better? What would you have liked to see happen in season three?

I cannot believe that Harry’s Law is cancelled! Finally a great show that everyone can enjoy and it gets cancelled! I was ticked that one of the “new” shows on will be Love in the Wild. I am so sick of women with huge boobs and guys with tats all over making out on air. If I see one more reality show I’m going to scream! Harry’s Law is funny, witty, charming and I love how the actors interact. It is one of the best shows on. I hope someone has the guts to pick it up next season! BRING… Read more »
NBC network executives are fools if they let the advertisers play them like puppets and say they want to cater to a “younger” audience! TV networks better pay more attention to the spending and audience power of their over 45 age demographic market! Reality TV is out of control and shows like Parks and Recreation need to be shot and put out of their misery. I agree w/Ginny Pepin’s and Evelyn G’s comments already posted addressing both of these points. Harry’s Law was the only decent show NBC had in its’ arsenal this season….and you are nuts if you cancel… Read more »
I love this show and am very aggravated that they are cancelling it. Every time something good comes on they cancel it for some silly childish kid show.
How could NBC have the nerve to cancel such a terrific show?????? I agree wholeheartedly with all other comments. I too hope that another network will pick up this wonderful show. The actors and storylines were so great!! It is certainly sad that NBC is run by fools.
I can’t believe this, every time a good program comes along they cancel it!!! My wife and I
like this show and yet again it is cancelled. Why????
It’s a pity that NBC is so dismissive of anyone over the 49 year age group. We also buy a lot of products and watch a lot of television. If Harry’s Law is the 2nd highest rated show on NBC and the network is pulling the plug, it only shows how short sighted they are. Why don’t they look for sponsors who service an age group that watch their most popular shows. Seems like NBC is stupid to let go of a fabulous show like Harry’s Law.
Please don’t take this show off! There are so few shows on that are truly worth watching if you have any brains at all!! I loved the first season better because it was DIFFERENT. The second season with the big offices and uninteresting clients seems like you ruined the show on purpose. The charming street people, the shoe store with the fun clerk and most of all Harry with a gun. You took away the arrogant vulgarian that we all loved. I hope another company picks this up and puts it back like it was. You can bet I will… Read more »
I am very disappointed with the network for canceling Harry’s Law. Kathy Bates is wonderful in the show and so is everyone else for that matter. I would appreciate the network if they would please reconsider. Please EVERYONE who wants the show back write in and say so.
well written, fast paced, humerous and enjoyable, wish it could be renewed
To the NBC so-called executives: What are you thinking?!?! You have very little to offer as a network, so when you finally put on intelligent programming with an excellent cast, fantastic writing , and story lines that are both thought-provoking and witty, you cancel it?!?!?!?!?! I bet you’ll replace it with some more mindless reality shows because they are so cheap to produce. Oh, I finally get it… you have to keep dummying down the programming to reach the mentality of the (dreadful) decision makers at NBC. Bring back Harry’s Law or I am finished with NBC.
I wish I could have done as good a job on my comment. Go Girl!
My husband and I agree with everything you said, could not have said it better. We loved watching Harry’s Law.
I cannot believe you cancelled this great program. You now have the Today show in the morning and Jay Leno at night, and Law & Order, then you have NOTHING!!!!
You continue to renew those STUPID, NON FUNNY SHOWS like Parks & Recreation and 30 rock. Untill Jay Leno comes on at night, my set will be tuned to CBS or cable.
Hopefully, CBS or ABC will pick up Harry’s Law. I read a little about some of the new shows you are putting on in the fall. You have got to be kidding!!!!
[…] Law (NBC) Kathy Bates and company won’t be back for new cases next year. The series attracted a lot of viewers but not enough in the key […]
With stupid decisions on the part of the networks to cancel shows like Harry’s Law, I’m pretty well done with network television altogether. There are so few good programs now that it’s not worth it anymore. I can’t stand even watching the ads for the so-called “reality” shows. Just for the record, I’m over 55 and I looked forward to Harry’s Law every week. Kathy Bates and the rest of the cast are excellent, as well as David E. Kelley. Too bad NBC is run by idiots.
One of the few shows on TV worth watching – great writing – great cast. Even with messing with the scheduled time, it still came out as 2nd most watched. You would think that should tell them something!! Sure will be missed.
I totally agree with all the comments posted for far…Can’t add anything except I’m very sorry this series is being canceled. Harry’s Law is one of my favorite programs for the past 2 years. It just amazes me that NBC would cancel this terrific series and will no doube add more rubbish.. As it is there is only one other NBC program (Law&Order, of course they have canceled all but one L&O) that I watch… Prime Suspect wasn’t even given a chance to work..It takes several episodes for a series to get set up. Please don’t be so quick on… Read more »
