Last season saw a big decline in the demo ratings for Hawaii Five-0. CBS renewed the series for a fifth season and reportedly ordered 25 episodes. Is this a sign that they plan to end the series or could it be renewed for a sixth season if the ratings are strong enough? We’ll have to wait and see.
A reimagining of the original Hawaii Five-0 TV show, this police procedural series revolves around an elite state police task force that fights crime in the 50th state. The series stars Alex O’Loughlin, Scott Caan, Daniel Dae Kim, Grace Park, Masi Oka, and Chi McBride.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/11 update: CBS has renewed Hawaii Five-0 for a sixth season.
Final season averages: 1.24 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.48 million total viewers.

Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a few weeks later.
For comparisons: The fourth season of Hawaii Five-0 averaged a 1.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.71 million total viewers.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Hawaii Five-0 TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or be renewed for a sixth season?
I agree with Dianne. Those of us who are baby boomers and not in the 18-49 year old demographics also like the program, and we can compare it to the days Jack Lord ran 5-0. It is a well casted and well written show, albeit I miss Michelle Borth’s presence. Alex, Daniel Dae, Scott, Chi, Masi do very well as a team. CBS has many of the best scripted and best written programs on TV today, which is greatly appreciated, as much of the latest TV programming in the past ten or so years has been terrible. CBS, give it… Read more »
If you would have left them on another night other than A friday or Saturday then you wouldn’t see a decline! Some people that watch TV also like to have lives on the weekends and go out because maybe they do t have the kiddos!! Love the show and we record it and watch it on Sunday’s to catch up since the kids don’t have any games going!
Great series all round. Cbs should at least take the series to seven seasons. So many great shows get cancelled for no reason. 9+ million viewers is still a lot of people tuning in each week.
I lived in Hawaii and went to the opening premiere of season #1. I mean really, a Navy Seal who is running a mission to Korea to pick up an Irish terrorist, then he get’s discharged by the Navy like overnight and forms some special task force with a bunch of misfits…give me an fing break. If the 50th State had so much drug trafficking, violent crime, terrorists, gangs….they’d put up a wall around it and rename the show “Escape from Oahu.” SOOOOO DUMB……not even an attempt at solid story lines with realism. Only thing that sells the show is… Read more »
this show is currently at 1.1. It loses .2 to .3 in the spring. That takes the demo below 1.0, no way CBS keeps a show with a .8 or.9 demo, even on Fri, especially one that has enough episodes for syndication
As I’m 62, I find extremely insulting the presumption that all TV should appeal only to the 18-49 demographic. I also find it confusing that since H50 and Blue Bloods consistently draw the highest total number of viewers, it is on the chopping block. Believe it or not, but “old” people over 50 do buy products and often have fewer cash-flow problems and better credit ratings than the “millenniumals.” We Baby Boomers are still alive and kicking, and we may still be the largest generation of Americans.
Worst season so far. Big a** plot holes + poor character development + said characters becoming out of character = me a few a lot of people that I know that stopped watching the show. Give us good moments between the team, cut on the romance (seriously other love interest for Steve? Keep the old girl, make her a recurring character, need for more blondies and love drama… Let Danny be with that new girl, and at least mention why Rachel sometime, same for Chin’s new girl.) and at least mention Steve’s mom or something… They seem to forget about… Read more »
Like the show
Saw a report where TNT is going to stop running H50 reruns. Saying goodbye to syndication means saying goodbye to original shows that can’t be sold. Last season currently airing.
I love that season 5 has just started. Yeah I did think the season premiere was a bit weak in parts but I have every hope that things will pick up. Over the years the pattern seems to be very dramatic towards the middle of the season
Big holes in the season premier of H5O. MAkes for a good comedy, but not drama.
Does anyone at CBS watch an episode of Hawaii Five O before it airs? Obviously not. Because if they did, they would hear that the BACKGROUND music is TOO FREAKING LOUD. I can’t figure out if I’m supposed to be watching a TV drama or a one hour DRUM SOLO because the BACKGROUND music is TOO FREAKING LOUD. The ratings would probably go up if the viewers could actually hear the dialog instead of the constant BOOM BOOM BOOM of the drum solo because the BACKGROUND music is TOO FREAKING LOUD. Watch any other series and you can hear the… Read more »
Same for Person of Interest. TOO FREAKING LOUD!!!
Somewhat agree But I bought a Sound Bar and even though the music is loud
at times, the sound bar helps me to hear the dialogues. Without the Sound Bar, yes,
the music is too loud and the smaller speakers in the TV can’t handle the dialogues competing with the music. Anyway the Sound Bar helped me hear the dialogues.
Watched it and was not that impressed. The story was pretty ridiculous… well, just the part about how they got the plane, etc.
I missed a lot of season 4 but I’m gonna try to keep up with this one. I just hope they don’t overstuff this cast.
Need to see more of Grace Park. Why do you think we watch this?
