Nexstar Media Group to Align BiteSizeTV Strategy with Organization-Wide Commitment to Local Programming and Content Production
April 7, 2017
“HOLLYWOOD TODAY LIVE!” TO END PRODUCTION
LOS ANGELES, California and IRVING, Texas – Nexstar Media Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: NXST) (“Nexstar” or “The Company”) announced today that plans are underway to bring the strategy for BiteSizeTV in alignment with the Company’s organization-wide commitment to local programming and content production. As a result, its wholly-owned subsidiary, Nexstar Broadcasting, Inc. (“Nexstar Broadcasting”) and FOX Television Stations, Inc. (“FOX”) will end Hollywood Today LIVE!, a one-hour, nationally syndicated daily entertainment news and talk variety show produced by BiteSizeTV. The final telecast of Hollywood Today LIVE! will air on April 28, 2017.
Commenting on the announcement, Perry A. Sook, Chairman, President and CEO of Nexstar Media Group, Inc. stated, “Nexstar is in the local media business and we remain focused on extending our legacy of local programming and content leadership by supporting the evolving needs and interests of our local viewers, hometown businesses and community organizations that we proudly serve each day. We are now evaluating other opportunities where we can create value from BiteSizeTV to generate positive results. Nexstar looks forward to continuing our relationship with FOX Television Stations and our partners at FOX Television.”
Nexstar obtained BiteSizeTV as part of its acquisition of Media General Inc. earlier this year. Hollywood Today LIVE! began as a pilot program on FOX-owned television stations in July 2014. Following its initial debut, Media General and FOX launched Season 1 of the nationally syndicated show across their respective broadcast platforms in September 2015 and Season 2 began airing in September 2016. FOX Television and Nexstar conducted a thorough analysis of Hollywood Today LIVE! and were unable to find a sufficient audience to support continued national syndication.

What do you think? Do you watch the Hollywood Today Live! TV show? Should it have been cancelled or renewed for season three?
So upset! I watched it mon thru fri. The crew cracked me up. Sooo going to miss this show. 🙁
I Loved The Show On At Minnight In Orlando Will Miss It
I actually liked the show, which is amazing because I don’t like gossip shows. I thought that the cast had great chemistry and I looked forward to seeing them when I did tune in. I’m at a loss for words as to why it was cancelled. It was great that the show had guest hosts and I loved the sort of guests invited.
Gloria i so miss this show, please bring it back, when i couldn’t watch, i taped it
love the show but loves Ross Matthews more
Loved this show! The dynamics of the hosts just made you laugh along with them. Everyone at work knew not to bother me while my favorite people were on. 🙂 Doesn’t feel like CBS really gave them much of chance. Now there is no reason to even turn the TV on.
I miss the show. I have enjoyed watching Ross since Johnny Carson.
I miss the show. I have enjoyed watching Ross since he first appeared on The Johnny Carson Show.
Sad that the show was cancelled. I enjoyed watching. Unfair to those of us that liked the show to cancel so abruptly.
I will SO miss HTL, especially Ross!!! I’m in Chicago, but am a native of the LA basin, a grad of Hollywood High and LOVED seeing the boulevard in the background during the show! The guests were timely and so at ease. I was a FAN!! Penny Boyd
Let me get this straight, you keep The Real which is an AWFUL show but cancel HTL?? You guys are a special kind of stupid aren’t you?
I totally agree!!
I LOVED THIS SHOW. IT WAS ALWAYS FUN AND I FELT AS IF I WAS SITTING AROUND WITH FRIENDS TALKING ABOUT ALL THESE TOPICS. I LAUGHED AND SMILED A LOT!!!!! THERE IS NOT ANOTHER SHOW LIKE IT ON THE AIRWAVES. FUN BUT NOT NASTY. WE NEED TO FIND ANOTHER PLACE FOR THIS SHOW, PLEASE
I love this show it always made my day. The fun they had together plus store and hot deal. It should have been renewed for another season. Very sad to see my other happy family go.
Loved this show! Love Ross-followed him since his ‘intern’ days-he’s hilarious and such an uplifting break from the dreary reality of the day-esp. these days! The regular cast had great chemistry – but Ross was the catalyst that drew me -bad decision to non-renew! I’ll have to find Ross elsewhere -and have moved my viewing to another network for that time slot.
I watched the show every single day. It made me smile and laugh. I’m a person that suffers from chronic pain and depression so I have to. I m going to missed the show dearly. Now what going to make me smile and laugh for that hour
