Who’s your friend when things get rough? Brothers Sid and Marty Krofft are working to reboot their HR Pufnstuf and Land of the Lost TV shows as feature films, as well as a remake of The Bugaloos and Lidsville TV series, according to USA Today.
As previously reported the Kroffts’ Sigmund and the Sea Monsters TV show pilot is currently available on Amazon. Amazon gives viewers a say in which pilots it orders to series. To rate this season’s pilots, go to Amazon’s pilot season page.
Here is more from USA Today:
While they wait to see if Sigmund has more adventures to come on Amazon, the Kroffts are working on deals for H.R. Pufnstuf and Land of the Lost movies, as well as reboots of their ’70s series The Bugaloos, which focused on four musical teens, and Lidsville, about a land of walking and talking hats. And the possibility of an Electra Woman & Dyna Girl sequel is in discussion, too.
Entertainment delivery may have evolved, but storytelling still requires some basic tenets, says Marty Krofft. “You have to have a great script, a fabulous mix of talent, a great director and be well-produced,” he said. “The great movies and TV shows were great ideas and great scripts.”
Adds Sid Krofft: “And have a lot of heart. You know the audience is so hip right now. They really want to see a great story. You can’t snow job them.”
Their revival of Electra Woman and Dyna Girl premiered on Fullscreen in April of this year. Those eight 11-minute episodes, starring YouTube sensations Grace Helbig and Hannah Hart, have been stitched together and given a new half-hour ending, to make a feature film.
What do you think? Are you excited for the Krofft brothers’ reboots of their classic TV series? Which ones do you most want to see?
Can’t wait for HR Puff to return. A show I rarely got a chance to watch but definitelya favorite
If they do make a Bugaloos reboot, they need to include a cameo of the original cast members John Mcindoe, Caroline Ellis, John Philpott and Wayne Laryea. It would be a shame if they created a reboot for The bugaloos and not include the original cast
