Christopher Chance and company have been struggling in the ratings this season and FOX isn’t exactly helping them out. On Wednesday, the pair of scheduled Human Target episodes were pre-empted by President Obama’s speech from Tucson. Those episodes have been rescheduled for tonight, an evening when viewership is much lower and many fans of the show will probably miss them.
Now, FOX has decided to expand the Wednesday, January 26th edition of American Idol to two hours. As a result, the previously scheduled episode of Human Target will be bumped to Monday, January 31st. It’ll precede the final Lie to Me of the season (and possibly the series). The network hasn’t announced it yet but, if the two-hour Idol on the 26th is a success, FOX could certainly decide to expand the next couple episodes which would displace the last two episodes of Human Target’s season. While the series was once going to get a ratings boost from an Idol lead-in, it’s now getting shuffled around instead.
It would seem that FOX has all but given up on the series. At this point, it’s hard to blame them. The ratings certainly don’t warrant a third round of episodes. Season one averaged a 2.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.6 million viewers and it was almost cancelled with those numbers. Thus far, season two has averaged just a pitiful 1.6 rating and 6.04 million total viewers. Human Target is currently the lowest-rated scripted show on the network.
It seems that Human Target is already destined to be cancelled and these latest schedule changes will be the final blow.
What do you think? Will Human Target be renewed for season three or cancelled? What would you suggest doing to increase the ratings?

If it is going to be cancelled by fox, it would be a great fit for TNT or USA network.
what about Lie to Me? is it coming back?
I love Human Target and like the addition of Indira Varma, she is smokin hot!!! and Aimes. I think they should develop a story line with Chance and Ms.Pucci hooking up. There is already some sexual tension developing between the two. You can tell. American Idol sucks!!! This should be the last season after Simon left. Ryan is a fruit. The Sing Off is much better than American Idiol ever thought about being. It’s a showcase of pure raw musical talent acapella style. It was great this season. I will watch it any day before I watch American Idol.
I am 64 and enjoy this show a lot even with the changes. Tired of all the reality shows, Idol included.
Human Target is a fantastic show. It is extremely well written and run. Fox would be sorely mistaken if they take it off the air.
Too bad. I like the show. Adventure and a great wryness. They walked the fine line well and the writing was fun.
I just loved the show until you changed it from those three guys to include two extra woman. Ilsa is very irritating, and does not add to the show. I found myself yelling at her to shut up. Please do not fix what is not broken. Please let us have more of Human Target. These three men are just perfect for this show and are believable. I do love the humor . Keep it coming.
I would hate to see it get cancelled, I really have grown to like the 3 main characters, Chance, Guerrero, and Shirley. I can’t say I’m to happy with all the newcomers, the young girl is good, but Ilsa is a big pain in the rump. American Idol is no good, really bad TV, I wish reality tv shows never got started. It lacks what tv is all about, an escape. Human target has the potential, you have a good cast, you had great stories last season, the action, suspense, humor, the relative tactics thats all good. NBC needs to… Read more »
Don’t cancel Human Target, it is the most exciting show on TV. You need to give people a chance to find it. It has improved since you added the ladies to the show. I really love this show, and I have been tell my friends about it. In just the last two weeks two of my friends started watching the show. They had not heard of it before, but now they are fans too. Give the show a chance.
By the way, anybody with any sense knows those reality shows (the ones that the audience isn’t participating in the outcomes) are all scripted. They scripted the dad on Orange County Choppers to be a jerk, when he’s actually a sweetheart. The constant fighting between him and his son is bull.
Please tell me you don’t really think everybody’s that stupid.
I really loved tonight’s (2) shows. The first one where Guerrero had a sparkle in his eye for Ms. Pucci’s ex-sister-in-law started showing his heart, which was quite intoxicating. It was followed through with the last show, revealing the suspect of a child. Guerrero reminds me of my husband, an ex-outlaw biker, now Ordained Minister. When he was hard core, he was VERY hard core and was very protective of his heart feelings. It took years of chipping away at that wall, but it finally happened and although he is very gentle, kind and loving, he could still take care… Read more »
Maybe Fox should animate Human Target so it fits in with the other ridiculous programming they have. I would prefer to see it on USA network.
I only just discovered Human Target this season and love it! They definitely need to give it a 3rd season and pimp it hard.
I like this show because it is not formulaic like most other dramas out there (CSI, Criminal Minds, etc.). It’s good action. I think Fox is hurting it by moving it around so much. Next episode is on January 31st – really! The cast has a good vibe. But they seem to be making the classic mistake of having a romance between two of the lead characters (Chance and Ilsa). That idea never works. Also, my complaint about season 2 is that it’s too much about the main characters. In season 1 it was always “save the client” and that’s… Read more »
Fox should cancel the show since the Fox suits know little about how to run an entertainment network. They move this show around at the drop of a hat – Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Monday again – and their ads are terrible “Someone’s got a problem on Human Target some night next week” – gee, no one is watching the show – I wonder why not? They can’t even take the time to produce a slightly more than minimal BluRay package of the 1st season – 12 episodes jammed onto 2 discs – cheap and stupid. Hopefully a cable network… Read more »
