Christopher Chance and company have been struggling in the ratings this season and FOX isn’t exactly helping them out. On Wednesday, the pair of scheduled Human Target episodes were pre-empted by President Obama’s speech from Tucson. Those episodes have been rescheduled for tonight, an evening when viewership is much lower and many fans of the show will probably miss them.
Now, FOX has decided to expand the Wednesday, January 26th edition of American Idol to two hours. As a result, the previously scheduled episode of Human Target will be bumped to Monday, January 31st. It’ll precede the final Lie to Me of the season (and possibly the series). The network hasn’t announced it yet but, if the two-hour Idol on the 26th is a success, FOX could certainly decide to expand the next couple episodes which would displace the last two episodes of Human Target’s season. While the series was once going to get a ratings boost from an Idol lead-in, it’s now getting shuffled around instead.
It would seem that FOX has all but given up on the series. At this point, it’s hard to blame them. The ratings certainly don’t warrant a third round of episodes. Season one averaged a 2.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.6 million viewers and it was almost cancelled with those numbers. Thus far, season two has averaged just a pitiful 1.6 rating and 6.04 million total viewers. Human Target is currently the lowest-rated scripted show on the network.
It seems that Human Target is already destined to be cancelled and these latest schedule changes will be the final blow.
What do you think? Will Human Target be renewed for season three or cancelled? What would you suggest doing to increase the ratings?

Human Target is a GREAT SHOW! I am soooo sick of hearing about american idol i could puke. They will certainly reap what they sow…a nation that lives their lives vicariously through their ‘idols’. I watch tv for entertainment and HT is that, with a bonus thrown in of a moral lesson. Let’s keep HT working!
Human Target is the best. It provides action combined with humor. With the addition of the two actresses, a new element of sultry, sexiness is taking place. Come on FOX, give them a chance!
I REALLY like this show. It’ one of the few shows I look forward to watching every week. I hope it gets renewed.
DITTO!!!!
I think the people in charge should leave well enough alone. Human Target is the best action show out there, if you cancel it I hope someone else picks it up so we can continue watching something worth watching. I think Idol sucks.
my family loves to sit down and watch this show ! its great action , and chemistry! besides glee and american idol . your station has nothing to offer. please dont take this show away.
neil
I think the show is great and will definitely grow in popularity if given the opportunity. Continue to air.
I’m tired of constantly wondering if my favorite shows will still be on the air myself. It really boggles the mind that mindless partially scripted…I mean “reality” television is given so much more support than shows that require creativity to succeed.
Just give the show a good time slot and leave it alone. If you can’t find it you can’t watch it. Give it more hype in advertising. It’s a great show with a well balanced cast dynamic and chemistry. You’ve set it up for failure buy your moving it around and not letting viewers know more about re-scheduled episodes when preempted by news events.
Fox is playing ping pong with this show which had me and my wife glued to our bed to watch a common show together that we both enjoy. Now that American Idol is on again, start moving the time slot and getting lost in the shuffle. Stop and let the show run it’s course. Look what CBS did to Star Trek back in the 60’s, duh, hello people. Listen, all the major channels are into this stupid talent shows yet the non ABC,CBS, NBC are showing great action adventures. PIX has got Nikita, Fox has Human Target, and Fringe, and… Read more »
What is with these networks? They leave crap reality shows on the air because they’re cheap to produce and the mindless masses will watch but they keep cancelling anything that requires an attention span. You want a suggestion FOX…quit ******** with the schedule and let the fans actually find the shows. Every season I have to research when (or IF) my favorite shows are returning. Then you keep delaying or taking rediculously long breaks in between seasons so the people that were on the “bubble” about your shows forget about you. What complete idiots!!!!!
I like the show and think if the show was on saturday night it would go . There is no good showes on that night. If not saturday then sunday night.
HUMAN TARGET – IS THE LOWEST RATED SHOW ? ? ? FOX HAS GIVEN UP . . . ? IT’S HARD TO BLAME THEM? ARE YOU KIDDING ME ??? THE RATINGS WILL BE WAY UP IT YOU JUST PUT THIS SHOW WHERE WE, THE VIEWER, CAN FIND IT! WE MISSED HALF THE EPISODES SIMPLY BECAUSE WE COULDN’T FIND IT! Just how many ‘singers’ do you think we can watch (with very few ‘IDOLs’ doing the singing). WE ARE ALL NOT ‘TEENY BOPPERS’ OUT HERE!
FOR HEAVEN’S SAKE!!! WHAT DO YOU MEAN ‘HAS FOX GIVEN UP . . . ‘ NO ONE IN THE AUDIENCE WILL ‘GIVE UP’ IF YOU JUST GIVE THIS SHOW A TIME SLOT! ! ! We, the audience, has had to hunt and dig just to find where and when the show will be on! It’s the best new show in years and FOX ISN’T SURE ABOUT IT? We are stuck with crap like (on other networks) ‘Kendra’ and crappie reality shows??? THERE IS AN INTELLIGENT AUDIENCE OUT THERE, FOX. HOW ABOUT GIVING US AN INTELLIGENT SHOW TO WATCH? We LOVE… Read more »
Human Target is the best. My wife and I really enjoy it. She asked me last week whatever happened to it. Naively, I said it was just a season break; that it would be back on in a couple of weeks. The post above makes me think not. I hope its wrong. This show is in its prime. It’s too good to cancel.
