Josh Holloway enjoyed a long run on Lost but unfortunately he hasn’t been as lucky with Intelligence. The CBS TV show has now been cancelled after one season of 13 episodes.
On Intelligence, Gabriel Vaughn (Holloway) is a high-tech intelligence operative who’s been enhanced with a super-computer microchip in his brain. It allows him to be connected directly into the global information grid. Other castmembers include Marg Helgenberger, Meghan Ory, Michael Rady, John Billingsley, P. J. Byrne, Tomas Arana, Lance Reddick, and Peter Coyote.
After the failure of Hostages, the network was hoping for Intelligence to be a ratings hit to fill their Mondays at 10pm timeslot. It wasn’t to be. Despite some impressive star talent and special effects, the show couldn’t draw enough viewers.
The network debuted it after NCIS on a Tuesday night and the show drew decent numbers but, once it moved to its regular Monday night slot, the ratings tanked. The season of 13 episodes averaged a 1.3 demo rating with 6.85 million viewer, making it one of the lowest-rated shows on the network.
That wasn’t good enough to mandate a second season renewal so Intelligence has been cancelled. The final episode aired on March 31st.
What do you think? Did you like this Josh Holloway series? Should it have been cancelled or renewed for a second season? Why do you think it didn’t catch on?
I loved this show. With all the garbage sitcoms and reality shows today, they finally had a good one. CBS got this one WRONG!
enjoyed the show and was looking forward to season 2
Big mistake. This is great show . I either watched it or recorded and watched later. Bad day and time. I watch agents of shield, blacklist and this was my number three replacing NCIS
Love this show and the characters. It most definitely should have been renewed. I don’t know why you put it opposite The Blacklist. Give it another chance in a different time slot please!
Donna’s Comments:Big mistake. This is great show . I either watched it or recorded and watched later. Bad day and time. I watch agents of shield, blacklist and this was my number three replacing NCIS SPOT on Blacklist and S.H.I.E.L.D. both worth their weight in GOLD as is Intelligence; NCIS not so much; as an ex govt employee I saw TOO MANY anomalies in the show and having us believe Abbie is SO SMART and can hack ANYTHING and create renderings of crime scenes that take MEGA HOURS and computing time; then there is the LACK of BADGES; in use… Read more »
Really tough time slot!. Liked the show. I would hope someone would pick it up
Great show! So disappointed.
Is their any way we as fans, and their are a ton of fans of Intelligence, to get you CBS to run it a 2nd season and put it back on Tuesdays after the NCIS/NCIS LA and move Person of Interest to Mondays? This is a very innovative, captivating and addictive show and their is no other new show that will match the incredible cast, acting and writing that will compare to Intelligence. OR LEAVE IT ON MONDAYS AT IT’S PREVIOUS TIME! My husband and I felt and recorded Blacklist and Intelligence since they ARE BY FAR THE BEST NEW… Read more »
Get a petition going; I WILL SIGN !!!
I LOVED this show. Terrible time slot. I was hoping they would give it another season on a more friendly night and time. What chance did it have coming in mid-season against Castle and The Blacklist? 🙁
cbs has no clue…put it back on!!!
Once again, you’ve taken a great show, placed it in a not-so-good time slot, then killed it. I’m getting totally fed up with network TV. First FOX cancels Almost Human, now this!
I love this show and upset to see it cancelled. CBS obviously cant and dont use common sense. If the show did better on tuesday nights, well heres an idea CBS, put it back on Tuesday nights!
I loved this show and I’m angry it’s been cancelled. CBS did it no justice with the time slot or the poor promotion. I would have loved to see how they developed it into the next season. The reality shows often get the same or lower ratings, but they never seem to get cancelled. I think if they’d moved this show and promoted it the second season would have been a lot better draw. They’re idiots on CBS.
If CBS had place this show in a better time slot, it would have produced better results for them. Did they really think they had a chance against Castle and The Blacklist? I really liked this show, but had to record it and watch it later. Maybe moving it to a different time slot rather than axing it would have been a first step. The networks are too quick to cancel shows.
CBS has no vision. They put a very good show in a very tough time slot with little marketing after the initial push, and expected it to fly. The show got better as the season went on, some unlikable character were eliminated, and the season finale was a shocker. It would be great if this was picked up by Fox or even a Netflix . I’d love to see it on SyFy but that that type of show doesn’t fit their model of ScareFy. Terribly disappointing.
Im from Malaysia. and i like the show very much…
I liked the show very much. The special effects were great. I did not like the late time slot. I went out of my way to see it. I am disappointed that it was cancelled. The crummy comedy shows never get cancelled. ‘ Intelligence’ would have been a shoo in in another time slot. But then you have to consider the fact that CBS shows it’s real mentality by showing all the stupid stuff they do show.
