According to Deadline, FX is close to renewing Justified for a third season. The deal with Sony Pictures will likely be in place by the time of FX’s upfront party in New York on Tuesday. Timothy Olyphant and others in the cast are slated to appear at the event.
Though Justified has recently stumbled a bit in the ratings, the numbers for the current season are up when compared to the first season’s. Airing last spring, season one averaged a 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.42 million total viewers. This season, Justified has been averaging a 1.0 rating and 2.63 million viewers.
Combining the viewership for multiple airings of each episode, Justified is reportedly drawing about 7.4 million per installment. That’s close to the cumulative numbers for the cable channel’s popular Sons of Anarchy.
What do you think? Are you a fan of this TV series? Would you like to see Justified return for season three?

Very glad to learn that JUSTIFIED will return for another season. Hopefully many more after that. FX and JUSTIFIED…and of course Raylan Rules!!! 🙂
Yes Yes Yes…this is one of my favorite shows on television…smart stories, intelligent dialogue and great comic relief at just the opportune times…Timothy Olyphant has been on of my favorites since Deadwood….The supporting cast is amazing…Kudos to all involved with this dynamic show….
I’m so tired of networks cancelling good shows…This is a keeper…
I absolutely love this show!! I hope more people find it because they are missing something! Timothy Olyphant is awesome, handsome, sexy and by far one of the best actors in Hollywood. Can’t wait for Season 3. I already bought Season 1 on Blue Ray and plan on buying this one also. Keep up the good work everyone!
I love this show and I love the hat I don’t think it is too westerny, I think that is what the show should be, It is was makes it charming. I think that Timothy Olyphant is wonderful and that western charmer, that he would do anything for a woman in trouble thing. I do think that we can get rid of the ex-wife she is kind of lame in fact I liked her better as the ada in the defenders.
my wife and i love the show and are glad it will be back for season 3.
i find it a little funny how the female commenters want to get rid of winona. i’ll leave it at that. 🙂
You’re right for the most part, but I like Winona! 🙂
The most interesting storyline by far is the relationship between Raylan and Boyd. The ex-wife subplot needs to heat up with something from her soon-to-be second-ex’s long-con, or it needs to go away. Mama and her boys also need more airtime; they have huge potential but aren’t being deployed.
This is my favorite TV show. I would watch it every night if it were on. I would like to see it on for many more seasons.
Please never lose the hat or the show. We wait for the renewal for many seasons to come but today hearing we got our 3rd season will be enough. Timothy Olyphant is just so good and heads a cast of gifted actors and the show has great writing. Thanks for the hopeful news.
I love Justified! Timothy Olyphant is excellent . The writing is smart and creative…very much like Elmore Leonard would write a script. If only they would move on from Winnona…..the character is not working. However, Boyd is a keeper! I look forward to season 3.
Great show! Congrats on season 3.
I would love to see if season three come back but without Winona. She is dragging the season down this year.
I’m also glad Justified will be renewed for a 3rd season. I suggest, though, that Raylin Givens lose the trademark hat, it’s become tiresome and, anyway, Givens looks much better without it. I will be even happier if F/X picks up Detroit 1-8-7 when ABC no doubt cancels it in the near future.
I was actually missing the hat in the recent episode cos there were so many scenes without it, but after a while, I was like, “Dayum, he’s sexy even without the hat! It’s okay to lose the hat for a while!” Lol. Of course, that episode had so many indoor scenes, so it only made sense.
Yes, I love the show. I am from Harlan, Ky and love the homework they have put into the show. With the moonshine out of different sizes of jelly jars down to how they pronounce “Miiike and liike with the long “i” sound. I love it.
Keep the show coming as we really like it, but get off the ex-wife bit; everybody does that. Give us something new and refreshing.
Yes and yes. But it’s a little weseterny for my taste. I know it’s not Deadwood, but still. Timothy is an excellent actor in everything he’s in. Smart choice for FX. And it’s really great that there’s so many good shows just on cable channels.
