The mini-series is Reelz and Muse Entertainment’s sequel to the 2011 mini-series, The Kennedys. President John F. Kennedy, Sr. was buried on November 25, 1963, his son John-John’s third birthday.
In The Kennedys — After Camelot, Katie Holmes reprises her role of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, from the original mini-series. JFK Jr. once played a fictional version of himself in the 1995 Murphy Brown TV show episode, “Altered States,” starring Candice Bergen. On July 16, 1999, John F. Kennedy, Jr. died while flying to Martha’s Vineyard, MA, to attend the wedding of his cousin, Rory Kennedy. His wife his Carolyn and sister-in-law Lauren Bessette also perished in the crash.
The upcoming mini-series, which began production in May, is based on J. Randy Taraborrelli’s book, After Camelot: A Personal History of the Kennedy Family 1968 to the Present.
