Deadline reports that TNT has decided to cancel King & Maxwell after one season. The 10th and final episode aired on August 12th.
The show revolves around a pair of Secret Service agents (Jon Tenney and Rebecca Romijn) who opened their own detective agency after they were fired. Michael O’Keefe, Chris Butler, and Ryan Hurst round out the cast.
King & Maxwell remained fairly consistent during its 10 episode run and averaged 3.11 million viewers. The premiere attracted 3.52 million viewers and the finale drew 3.50 million.
While it wasn’t as big a hit as Rizzoli & Isles (5.7 million) and Major Crimes (4.9 million), it wasn’t that far behind Perception (3.5 million).
What do you think? Are you sorry that there won’t be a second season for King & Maxwell? How do you think it compares to the other TNT dramas?
Same ratings as Major Crimes an obvious keeper, near Rizzoli and Isles and better than Perception which you renewed and we like. keep them all!
I can’t BELIEVE they cancelled another good show after only one season. How do they expect anybody to want to even want to watch anything new. There’s no point – it’ll only be cancelled and replaced with some STUPID reality crap.
Keep it! We love all the characters, especially the autistic guy.
Don’t Tell Me Another Good Show Goes Away , While So Many Dumb Shows Are Still On The Air. It Was A good Show With Both Laughs & Drama. Shame On TNT . Probable Will Put On Some Dumb Show No One Likes Or A Reality Show (already Way To Many Of Those Already } Glad I Can Still Read The Books.
WE liked King and Maxwell. Had drama and comedy. We would like to see it come back.
My husband and I baby boomers were really enjoying the story line and acting on the show. We really were disappointed they decided to cancel the show who are these people ?Are they the same ones who launched Honey Boo Boo .Please bring back the whole cast of King and Maxwell.
What a shame. Well written and well acted. I can’t imagine why they canceled it. I was looking forward to the second season.
Too bad – it was a very interesting show. Different than most of the series.
Yes to all other posts. Reality TV is beyond ridiculous. Not all of us fall within the 18-39 year old demographics and like good fictional dramas that appeal to “baby boomers”. Who do the execs think have the money to buy the products they advertise? The boomers do. Give us less nudity and sex and stupid reality shows and give us more great dramas.
I can’t believe they cancelled it. I’ve been reading the books and was really looking forward to season 2. The network must have something more interesting to replace it. NOT, but what do you expect from a bunch of 25-35 year old execs!
Why would you cancel King and Maxwell. This show was only going to grow in popularity the more episodes you aired. Jon Tenney is great. I was glad to see that he was back on Major Crimes although I think his talents are under utilized with the part that he has.
Sorry to them cancel another good program and keep the reality crap. No entertaining value what so ever in that garbage. Getting rid of cable and satellite TV. All you can watch is junk. Sorry to see it go, will Major Crimes and Rizzoli both be next.
WHY? WHY? WHY? Why do all the good shows keep getting cancelled? There are so many crap reality shows on tv, but the few good fictional shows keep getting cancelled. We get to know the characters and look forward to the next episode every week. Then we look forward to the next season, only to find out that we will never see anymore episodes because IT’S BEEN CANCELLED! Please quit taking away all our good shows! Bring King & Maxwell back!
Will miss this show; was not just another detective .
I cannot believe you would cancel a show with great plots and actors and yet keep some show like Cold Justice which is just another b-rated reality type show. You people are really trying to dumb- down your audience.
But the fact is, you only lose viewers with this kind of decision making. Shame on you.
