After three seasons, ABC Family’s Kyle XY TV show is coming to an end. Will viewers get answers to the ongoing storylines about the young man without a belly button?
Kyle XY centers around a young man (Matt Dallas) who wakes up in the middle of a Seattle forest — naked and without a memory. The police call in psychologist Nicole Trager (Marguerite MacIntyre) for assistance and she ends up bringing him home. Her husband Stephen (Bruce Thomas), daughter Lori (April Matson), and son Josh (Jean-Luc Bilodeau) almost immediately take to “Kyle” and make him feel like part of the family. He begins to show incredible intelligence and physical abilities that lead the Tragers to realize there’s far more to Kyle than meets the eye. Others in the series include Chris Olivero, Kirsten Prout, Jaimie Alexander, Nicholas Lea, Chelan Simmons, Magda Apanowicz, Martin Cummins, Leah Cairns, J. Eddie Peck, Teryl Rothery, Conrad Coates, Cory Monteith, Josh Zuckerman, Kurt Max Runte, and Malcolm Stewart.
The show premiered on June 26, 2006 on ABC Family and became an instant hit. It attracted 2.6 million viewers and became the cable network’s highest-rated show to date. The pilot was repeated on ABC and over 5.2 million people watched. The first season was made up of 10 episodes and the show was quickly renewed for a second year.
Kyle continued to enjoy very healthy ratings into the second season. They were so good that ABC Family ended up ordering 23 episodes, a longer season than most series on the major networks. In May 2007, ABC Family president Paul Lee proudly said, “Kyle XY is the highest-rated show ever on ABC Family; it is truly the show that has defined this network.”

Unfortunately, that sunny outlook didn’t continue for very long once the ratings started to fall in the latter part of season two. Kyle’s third season’s premiere episode attracted just 1.5 million viewers and other ABC Family shows outperformed it by a wide margin.
ABC Family has just announced the renewal of two shows — Greek and Lincoln Heights — as well as the cancellation of Kyle. No details were given for the cancellation but the decline in ratings, higher production costs, and castmember contracts coming up for renewal are all believed to be contributing factors.
The third season of Kyle kicked off on January 12th and is expected to conclude on March 16th. It seems likely that the network will continue to air all of the episodes on schedule.
Because the series finale was shot well before the cancellation news came down, it seems unlikely that all of the show’s ongoing storylines will be resolved when the last episode airs. Will fans get the answers they’re looking for or will they be left hanging forever?

I think you should bring back the show at least one more season to wrap up the ending, or even do a movie like they did with the Firefly series where even after the cancellation of the show they still did a movie to wrap up all lose ends and at least not leave the avid watchers wondering forever what would have happened. Its not cool to leave a bunch of true fan hanging just cause some people stopped watching. It was a great series and we deserve to know how it ends. Bring Kyle back!
ABC fanily i absolutly love yor network but you have to bring kyle xy back you cant leave us withput n nding lots of ppl love that show….if your not going to bring back a new season you should at least make someone write the ending for everyone who wants to know
Why would you cancel a show right when it is getting good. This show was a great show so sorry if people had to work or had school work they had to do but this was a minor setback, and the least you could have done was end the season with a bang, and not with a thousand questions. It would have been great to see what the actors and actresses could have brought to a new season with what has happened in just that last episode. Wow you guys suck!!

It is ridiculous that these networks keep cancelling series without giving the audience closure. Why even bother watching t.v. show series because you get into them and then they just cancel them. Just because ratings drop doesn’t mean the 1.5 million viewers still watching are not important. I love Netflix because they have loads of t.v. series to catch up on missed episodes. I barely watch cable anymore because of this.

This thing is so stupid they need to quite canceling shows i like and that i get addicted to they just left me hanging out the very last episode of the very last season they make it look like there would be another season but theres not so are they seriously just gonna let down the fans of Kyle XY and not make the fourth season ever thats just messed up and not right at all! They need to put Kyle XY back up now! Because i want to keep watching it. And same with Lincoln Heights.

Bring it back. We need a season 4 to resolve the last episode of season 3. Perhaps one one the best scifi teen series I have watched. Vivaldi was playing his piano and forgot to hit middle C and then went to bed. Hw woke up in the middle of the night and ran down to his piano and struck the kyt C. Then he could sleep. Every unfinished situation needs resolution.

ABC Family sucks!!! If something like that happened to some other kind of product and so many customers complained, the company would do something about it!!! Apparently they would rather spend mone ton start up other stupid teenage series and let one of the best TV shows ever rest in peace… I read many articles of fans that clearly showed their anger about this and also found out many petitions and even donations for saving the show… Unfortunatelly, I see years passing by and no answer from ABC Family… Each and every one “Kyle XY” fan should boycot the other… Read more »
look im sooo sry if on ly abc family would stop thinking about money and continue the freaken show i can not belive THEY LEFT THE SEASONS LAST EPSIODE FOR SOME DUMB DOWNFALL OF VEIWS THERE R STILL PPL WHO WANNA WATCH THIZ.
