TVGuide is reporting that NBC has unceremoniously cancelled Las Vegas after five seasons on the air.
Las Vegas debuted on September 22, 2003 and was touted as actor James Caan’s first series regular role on television. The Academy Award-nominated actor was cast as the Montecito casino’s Head of Security, ‘Big Ed’ Deline. Others in the cast have included Nikki Cox, Josh Duhamel, James Lesure, Vanessa Marcil, Molly Sims, and Marsha Thomason.
Caan left the series last year to return to his movie career and Cox was cut from the show in a cost-cutting move. Caan was replaced by Tom Selleck and it was hoped that the addition of the veteran TV actor would help revitalize the series. It didn’t and, coupled with the series’ move to Friday nights, the ratings dropped significantly.
Last year, Las Vegas was one of the earliest NBC shows to get a renewal notice. What a difference a year can make.
NBC has opted not to renew Las Vegas for season six. Unlike Friday Night Lights, Vegas apparently doesn’t warrant shopping to other possible outlets and fans of the series are left with a cliffhanger. The last two episodes aired last Friday and was first in the ratings for both hours, Unbeknownst to viewers at the time, it was likely the last time we’ll see the staff of the Montecito. Stay tuned!
I hope if the fans keep asking Big Ed, Danny, Delinda, Sam, NBC will feel some loyalty to give us something of closure!!!!!!
I really dont understand why Las Vagas did not continue. How do you ever trust a show again. This ending they left us with sucks!!! However the show still plays in Houston for 2 hours daily on TNT. If its good enough to keep repeating the seasons, why could they not do one more season and givve us an ending. I want to say I would not trust the stars again, that left us hanging. But I still watch everyday although I have seen them all several times. It sucks!!!
Im glad it was cancelled. That Las Vegas tough guy act, Oceans Eleven concept is old and predictable.
They really need to make another season. This was a great show it had everything.I’m dying to know what happened to delinda!
I have been waiting for Las Vegas to come back on the air for over a year. I finally went on the internet to find out why it hadnt come back on, and then I seen this post! I am very dissappointed. Something should have at least been announced!
i love this show , the ending sucked, ill never watch nbc again..
If NBC had half (well maybe thats too much credit), a tenth of a brain left, they would bring back this series. After searching on the internet for a explanation, here I am, as well as many others (STILL TO THIS DAY!!!) wanting the series to come back. Ratings might have dropped a little and there may have been some changes to characters and what not, but the show still had a large, FAITHFULL following. Get with the program NBC and realize you made a huge f’n mistake
Las Vegas was one of my favourite TV shows and I have DVD’s of each season. Just finished watching Season 5 (still not completed on Aussie TV) and all I can say is that the cliffhanger we were left with ‘sucks’
It’s like closing a book and not reading it to the end!
I’ve got the dvd’s which I watch regularly, I also still watch the reruns on tv but I still get angry every time I see that final episode, the to be continued that was suddenly cancelled. NBC has proven that fans mean nothing; it’s all about the mighty $$. How dare they end it like that! Obviously NBC stands for No Brains Corporation. Also known as the Nobody cares network. I loved the show, it was fun with James Caan, it was fun with Tom Selleck, the cast was fun and worked well together. If they cared at all about… Read more »
I just finished watching season 5,and I need to know what happens to Danny & Delinda’s baby..please….please bring back te series.
SUCH A SHAME….
What an amazing TV Series. I have been watching every episode stated at Season 1. Not sure what I will do without “Danny” or “Mike” lol
Should finish show with Feature Length Film.
I still watch the re-runs of this great show on TNT. NBC really needs to renew this show for at least a real finale if not an entire season because i hate the cliff hanger we are left with.
**** this
Las Vegas is one of the best TV Series that I ever watch, it’s very disappointed to hear that Las Vegas won’t be back next season. I think NBC made a wrong decision on this one
