As reported earlier, ABC has decided to cancel the TV series Last Man Standing after six seasons. Now, star Tim Allen has reacted to the surprising news.
The comedy centers on Mike Baxter (Tim Allen), a marketing director for the Outdoor Man sporting goods stores who lives with his wife and three daughters. The cast also includes Nancy Travis, Amanda Fuller, Molly Ephraim, Kaitlyn Dever, Christoph Sanders, Hector Elizondo, Flynn Morrison, Jordan Masterson, and Jonathan Adams.
On Twitter, Allen said he was “stunned” that ABC decided to cancel Last Man Standing, which has been a solid ratings performer for the network:
Stunned and blindsided by the network I called home for the last six years. #lastmanstanding

Earlier, ABC chief Channing Dungey explained the decision, saying it was “challenging”:
“Last Man Standing was a challenging one for me, because it was a steady performer in the ratings, but once we made the decision not to continue with comedies on Friday, that was where we landed.
What do you think? Are you a fan of Last Man Standing? Would you watch the show on another network or streaming platform?
I am a mainstream lefty, but have enjoyed Last Man Standing since its inception and watch every rerun on CW. I find it hard to believe that ANY network is stupid enough to cancel top-rated sitcoms, yet keep on a totally stupid show like Dr. KEN. There are way too many drama shows on tv, same old same old, night after night. LMS was a great way to ending the week and beginning the weekend — with good, clean humor. I changed channels afterwards to avoid Dr. Ken. I will definitely boycott ABC if this show was cancelled due to… Read more »
Absolutely I would watch on another channel. ABC excuse of deciding to not continue comedies is ridiculous. How stupid do they think we are? They could have moved it to another time when they did have comedies. They change airtime of other shows all the time. I will not be watching ABC on Friday or any night and will encourage all my friends to do so.
Move “Last Man Standing” show to another station. ABC fell prey to political cencorship. Stand up, be proud. It’s a good show! Most families would much rather see this comedy show over a show like “Rhu Paul’s Drag House! Come on!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
Will some other network pick up this series —- it’s a tossup between LMS and Modern Family as to which has the cleverest and funniest on TV
A POX ON YOU, ABC
No toss up at all. Last Man Standing is definitely the winner. The only other comedy on abc that I will watch is “the Goldbergs”. Both clean fun.
Luv it and hate you for cancelling
love the show, will follow this show to another network.
My family and I enjoyed this show. We followed Tim from Home Improvement to his current show, Last Man Standing. I think it’s pathetic and lacks professionalism the way the network cancelled LMS. These characters were bold in their stands politically which made for controversial discussions in our home, with our children, after the show. I hope it was cancelled because of how Democrats were constantly ridiculed, especially Hillary. You’ll always be A+ in our book Mr. Allen. Hats off to 7 great years. Hope to see this show picked up by another network.

The reason for cancelling Last Man Standing does not make sense. Statement made by Channing Dungey, “Last Man Standing was a challenging one for me, because it was a steady performer in the ratings, but once we made the decision not to continue with comedies on Friday, that was where we landed. The lastest TV ratings from tvseriesfinale.com has Last Man Standing with 6.4 mil viewers and 1.15 in the 18-49 demographic. Your new Friday shows have 2.3 and 4.2 mil viewers (Agents of Shield and 20/20 respectively) InHuman of course is unknown. As an aside, a bad show in… Read more »
I love this show!!! I find the reruns and watch them. I find it ridiculous they are canceling this show. But that is how ABC works, get rid of the good shows and keep the crap! I will definitely follow this show to another network… Please continue this somewhere, maybe another night, like Saturday nite.
Would watch on another network, this is one of my favorite TV shows! Don’t understand it being cancelled!
I would love to see this show on any day of the week or another network! Great family show.
Great show. Move it to another night or Network and I will follow it and watch.
I loved the show. Great comedy! The “explanation” for canceling it is ridiculous – move it to another night. I would definitely follow it to another network. It was one of few reasons I watched ABC.
I was so sad to hear about the cancellation of last man standing. My family looked forward to it every Friday. I think it’s very very wrong for producers to cancel a great show like this. It has positive moral values and positive family values which is so much needed in today’s situation comedies. I am constantly looking at the reruns. This is one of the best Family comedies on TV. What a great loss for TV.
I wish Tim Allen would push to have the show play on another network. A lot of folks would watch it; the fans would follow.
