On the heels of reversing its decision to renew Z: The Beginning of Everything for a second season, Amazon has cancelled The Last Tycoon TV show, after only one season. The drama series — inspired by F. Scott Fitzgerald’s unfinished novel of the same name — comes from writer and director Billy Ray.
Streaming on the Amazon Prime Video paid subscription platform, The Last Tycoon stars Matt Bomer, Kelsey Grammer, Lily Collins, Rosemarie DeWitt, Dominique McElligott, Enzo Cilenti, Mark O’Brien, Jessica De Gouw, Koen De Bouw, Jennifer Beals, Saul Rubinek, and Eion Bailey. The period drama centers on “Hollywood’s Golden Boy” Monroe Stahr (Bomer). The young producer struggles with studio boss Pat Brady (Grammer), over the path they should take. The two clash, when the Nazi regime informs them that they will have to abide by Hitler’s standards, if they want to release their films in Germany.

I loved The Last Tycoon. It was a great story. When the last show ended, I was sitting on the edge of my chair waiting for the next season to start. All the actors are fantastic! I want to see more of this series. C’mon Amazon…..start filming it again.
Please please please Amazon…..pick it up again. We could use more like this… tired of destroy the universe shows and alien character, and just plain off-the-wall same-old, same old. The characters are terrific, Matt Bomer and Lily Collins in particular. Bring Monroe back to deal with Kathleen…..PLEASE!!!!!
Finally we get a series with glamour, wit and amazing costumes and what do Amazon do, they cancel it. It seems that these streaming sites get your attention with some brilliant programmes and then stop them half way through. This story hasn’t ended!! We need a second season. I need to know what happened to Munroe and Kathleen and all the other characters. Come on Amazon, it’s not like you don’t have the budget

Really enjoyed this series. Such a shame Amazon wants to focus on finding its own ‘Game of Thrones’ equivalent instead of seeing through a beautiful production for fans of old Hollywood glitz and glamour rather than blood guts and gore. What’s the point of subscribing to a service that shelves series and doesn’t finish the story? Pointless. Very annoying and disappointing!

A laudable period drama series with invigorating cast and nostalgic set and wardrobe! Terribly disappointed that it’s suspended a decision to continue. Season two was necessary! Please reconsider…

Loved this series. Please bring it back. The story is great with tangled webs and really keeps your interest. Great actors and actresses.

This is so sad! I LOVED this show, loved the story, the costumes, the acting, the diaglogue. Why was it canceled. Who decides this. Please bring back. One of the best series, ever!
