Variety reports TNT has cancelled three of their series: Legends, Public Morals, and Agent X.
The announcement comes on the same day the network granted season renewals for The Librarians, Major Crimes, and Murder in the First.
Starring Sean Bean, Legends’ second season premiered in November, after a complete series revamp. Ratings were poor for season one, with an average viewership of only 1.53 million. But even with a new showrunner and serialized approach to the spy drama, the second season has not fared much better in the ratings.
TNT’s new historical cop drama Public Morals debuted in August. However, the freshman series starring Ed Burns as a member of NYPD’s Public Morals Division in the 1960s, performed even worse in the ratings than season two of Legends. Season one only garnered an average 18-49 demo rating of .15 and an average of 880,000 total viewers.
TNT’s other freshman series, Agent X, premiered in November. The series, which stars Sharon Stone as a new Vice President in charge of a secret operative, has fared better than the first season of Public Morals in the ratings, but not by much. With only three episodes left, the series has averaged a total of 1.066 million viewers.
Legends ends it second season on December 28th, while Agent X ends is first and only season on December 27th.
What do you think? Did you watch either Legends, Public Morals, or Agent X? Are you disappointed they were cancelled?
I just discovered “Legends” on Netflix and found it to be an excellent show. The problem is I don’t normally watch TNT programming, so I was never aware of “Legends” existence until last week (12/15/2015). Better publicity across networks would have helped with audience. The problem is there are just too many shows on too many channels for any off-network show to get attention.
I am very sad. Agent X, like Librarians, is a fresh concept well executed with excellent actors. I have to agree with the other posts I’ve read. TNT doesn’t give their shows a chance.
I have watched all three of these shows and like them very much but really like Agent X. TNT is being foolish; these shows are up against many good shows in the same time slots. Agent X is a delight with the new concept and the two main characters. Give these shows a break, they are far superior to many multi-year boring and unoriginal spots. (This year was really a tough time spot for Legends which is confusing if you cannot keep up with each airing.) Some of us appreciate deeper shows/stories with more intense characters. Was also looking forward… Read more »
What is the big hurry to cancel Agent X? I loved this show, you cannot expect the viewing audience to even have seen enough of this to give you a good reason to cancel. It was a fantastic show. I’m not going to get hooked on any more of TNT’s shows! Phooey on TNT!
I agree with you. Over the years TNT has introduced me to several really good shows only to cancel them after one or two seasons. They will not fool me again. No more TNT for me! Agent X was a good show and my last time to get hooked on a TNT program.
PLEASE DON’T CANCEL AGENT X!!!!!! Love this show so much. You have to give shows more than just one season a chance. This is an awesome cast and a great show to watch. I love the whole hour Im watching it. I am sad and angered that it is cancelled but you can keep a show like the librarians on!!!!
Two of my favorite shows-Agent X and Legends, cancelled. Wonder if TNT had actually advertised them, maybe they’d have succeeded. Incredible talent and plot lines in both. What a waste! Soooo disappointed!!
I love Public Moral. Should give it another chance.TNT always cancel good shows so quickly.
I just got to really enjoy AX AND THEY DIDN’T EVEN GIVE IT A CHANCE.. SO SAD
Agent X is the best series to watch, don’t CANCEL we need more shows like this, c’mon
I liked both Legends and A.X.
U just finished a season 1 marathon of Legends just so I could be ready for season 2, and now you cancel it. It seems the stupidest shows stay and the shows with a story get canceled.
Total Bum on AX, and I am cool with the Librarians, but it isn’t riveting by any stretch. Have been hoarding Legends, will watch even tho cancelled. Too bad on both AX and Legends. PMorals. Have been hoarding that too. May watch, may delete.
Agent X has its best demo yet on Sunday, better even than its premiere. It had its best total viewer tally since the premiere. Canceled after 7 episodes. Sigh.
It figures. I love Agent X. The Librarians…well I just can’t get into it. Wish it was gone instead of Agent X.
I love Agent X…PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL!!!!!!
This is SO ludicrous. Cancelling the 3 best shows on your Network!? Really?! Seriously?!
