The FOX network has decided not to order additional episodes of Lie to Me. Production will be halted next month, leaving the season total at 13 installments. Is the show essentially cancelled?
While a move like this is never a positive sign, it doesn’t necessarily mean that Lie to Me is finished. FOX has been using the series as a utility player and could potentially order more episodes at a later date for a summer run.
However, Lie to Me’s ratings haven’t exactly been stellar. The seven episodes that have aired thus far this season have averaged just a 1.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.42 million viewers. It’s consistently ranked either third or fourth in its Monday night timeslot, losing a significant amount of the lead-in audience from House. In the demo, it’s the ninth most-watched program on the network, ranking just below struggling Fringe.
It probably doesn’t help that executive producer Shawn Ryan left to run his own show, The Chicago Code, which is set to debut on FOX in January.
Original episodes of Lie to Me return next month and are set to finish airing by January 31st. The decision to either renew or cancel the series will likely come down to how confident the FOX execs are in what they have in the pipeline.
What do you think? Will Lie to Me be cancelled or will the network order more episodes? What would you do?

This is a brilliant show, exec’s would be mad to shut it down. What a gem, love it.
Tim Roth brilliantly hammy!!
I like this show but it has declined steadily since season one. It appears to me the original writers have moved on to other projects. This show has all the makings of greatness but falls disappointingly short. I don’t like the way Lightman has become such a total egotistical ass. I hope they get their stuff together and save it but I doubt it will happen.
I have two TV shows I find worth buying. Lie to Me and Bones. I certainly hope if FOX drops this show, then another network picks it up.
Cancel,cancel,cancel,cancel……
I agree with kovacs 1. The stories are getting a bit stale, with Lightman’s character increasingly harder to like. Expand the storyline to include the others.
About time to cancel this show.I can not watch Dr lightman (whatever his name is) making faces all the time, like a retarded……
About time to cancel this show.Dr Lightman seems to be retarded…..
I just started watching. I got all the old episodes. I (and my husband) are addicted. Tim Roth is brilliant.
I loved the show from the start, but I must admit, I can feel the storyline, dr Lightman’s character start to rundown, which is pity 🙁 Not easy to hold the tension high, when everything is build around his figure. Maybe the story writers should let other characters some twist and development, which is commonly used nowadays, the best example for instance the good old “24” or in the computer technology the multicore CPU 🙂 🙂 more lower speed core produce higher output than a single high speed 😉
Please don’t cancel Lie to Me. It has great writing and it’s different than any show on the air. It’s worth a summer run. It will get more viewers if Fox will market it better. It’s an awesome show. Let it run it’s course.
THIS IS INSANE! this is like one of the best shows this is ridiculous! fox, stop being crazy!
Adios.
My daughter & I love Lie To Me. Please do not cancel it!
