The peacock network has gotten tired of picking up the tab for “three of New York’s most powerful women.” They’re not ordering more episodes of the Lipstick Jungle TV show after two seasons and 20 episodes.
Lipstick Jungle is based on the best-selling book by Sex and the City’s Candace Bushnell and follows the lives of three high-powered friends; former studio president Wendy Healy (Brooke Shields), magazine editor Nico Reilly (Kim Raver), and fashion designer Victory Fords (Lindsay Price). Others castmembers include performers like Paul Blackthorne, Andrew McCarthy, Robert Buckley, Sarah Hyland, David Norona, Dylan Clark Marshall, Seth Kirschner, Matt Lauria, David Alan Basche, and Marcia DeBonis.
The series debuted as a midseason replacement series on February 7, 2008. Despite being part of NBC’s Thursday night line-up, Jungle only attracted 7.54 million viewers and a 2.9/8 rating/share of the 18-49 demographic. The rest of the season averaged fewer than six million viewers each week.
Because of the writers strike, only seven episodes were produced. Ratings-challenged NBC decided to take a chance and renewed the show for a second year of 13 episodes, hoping that the numbers would improve.

When Jungle returned for its second season, the ratings were even lower than they were in season one. On Wednesday nights, the show averaged a paltry five million viewers and a 2/5 rating/share. After five weeks, NBC essentially gave up on the series and moved it to Friday nights at 10pm. Much of the Jungle audience didn’t follow and those two episodes have averaged just 3.26 million.
To no surprise, NBC has pulled the plug on the show’s future. The series’ writers actually cleaned out their offices last week. On the positive side, all 13 episodes of this season are being completed and will continue to be shown on Friday nights for the immediate future. Seven have aired, leaving six episodes to go. Because production is so close to wrapping, it’s unlikely that the final episode will conclude the series’ storylines. It’s even more unlikely that NBC would order a third season.
It’s expected that Friday Night Lights will take Jungle’s place in January. Stay tuned!

i’m SOOO SAD!!!!!
I want this show back!!
In response to Danielle’s comment – this show does not reflect the imagine of a strong women’s live nor did the show Sex in the City – they were popular and it is all left up to your imagination. It sure beats all the blood, guts, shoot them up type shows – the images of mangled bodies in the streets or on a lab. table being bisected. These are the type of shows that the younger generation gets their ideas about guns, robberies, school shootings etc. If one thinks that they would get their ideas from Lipstick Jungle – sorry… Read more »
First of all this show is amazing!!! This is a wonderfullll show . its different and i love it!! i hope someone else takes it because there is hope for LIPSTICK JUNGLE!! and it wasn’t there fault that there was a writer strike the minute they started shooting and then the jerks on NBC changing their time slot from wenesday to friday nights. i began to love all these charachters and i hope that it stays!!
don`t cancel the show because is very gooooooooood.
and y love the story
I love, love, love this show!!! Coming from someone who isn’t big on these movies that critics think are amazing! I like enjoying shows/movies that are easy to watch, they make you forget all the craziness and problems that are going on in your life and just let you fall into them. It’s easier to see myself in this show rather than one that has critics raving over it! Perhaps not to a theatrical expert but to me it’s better than Sex in the City!
Big mistake to cancel this show.. Put it on a thursday or earlier on the week… dont cancel it please
I have my fingers crossed. I love love this show! Please realise that the station moves these shows to different times and nights it confuses viewers!
Please don’t cancel the show!! I love the women in it and there stories. I am a huge fan.
Please don’t cancel the show!!!!!!!!!! I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love this show, please don’t take off. I watch every week. All three girls make the show. I don’t care what time or day its on, I will watch it…
Started watching with high hopes for this show but NBC was right to pull plug on it, as it became painful to watch some decent actors wrestle with poor scripts and lacklustle storylines.
NBC needs to be buried in letters from viewers wanting to save this show!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Who was the moron in programming who decided to change this show to Friday nights anyway? Women who would watch this fine show are the type who would never be home on Friday nights to watch! They should have left it on Wednesdays and allowed the audience to find it. Jerks at NBC need to reconsider…
This is a great show with a great story. Danielle (previous poster) is a dumb ***** and should go back to the kitchen.
PLEASE DONT END LIPSTICK JUNGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!! I SO LOVE THE SHOW!!!!!!!!! IT ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great, this show was a cheap imitation of what strong women’s lives are like… good riddance!
