The peacock network has gotten tired of picking up the tab for “three of New York’s most powerful women.” They’re not ordering more episodes of the Lipstick Jungle TV show after two seasons and 20 episodes.
Lipstick Jungle is based on the best-selling book by Sex and the City’s Candace Bushnell and follows the lives of three high-powered friends; former studio president Wendy Healy (Brooke Shields), magazine editor Nico Reilly (Kim Raver), and fashion designer Victory Fords (Lindsay Price). Others castmembers include performers like Paul Blackthorne, Andrew McCarthy, Robert Buckley, Sarah Hyland, David Norona, Dylan Clark Marshall, Seth Kirschner, Matt Lauria, David Alan Basche, and Marcia DeBonis.
The series debuted as a midseason replacement series on February 7, 2008. Despite being part of NBC’s Thursday night line-up, Jungle only attracted 7.54 million viewers and a 2.9/8 rating/share of the 18-49 demographic. The rest of the season averaged fewer than six million viewers each week.
Because of the writers strike, only seven episodes were produced. Ratings-challenged NBC decided to take a chance and renewed the show for a second year of 13 episodes, hoping that the numbers would improve.

When Jungle returned for its second season, the ratings were even lower than they were in season one. On Wednesday nights, the show averaged a paltry five million viewers and a 2/5 rating/share. After five weeks, NBC essentially gave up on the series and moved it to Friday nights at 10pm. Much of the Jungle audience didn’t follow and those two episodes have averaged just 3.26 million.
To no surprise, NBC has pulled the plug on the show’s future. The series’ writers actually cleaned out their offices last week. On the positive side, all 13 episodes of this season are being completed and will continue to be shown on Friday nights for the immediate future. Seven have aired, leaving six episodes to go. Because production is so close to wrapping, it’s unlikely that the final episode will conclude the series’ storylines. It’s even more unlikely that NBC would order a third season.
It’s expected that Friday Night Lights will take Jungle’s place in January. Stay tuned!

we love it !!!! please give us a third season !!
I LOVE THIS SHOW SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much please please make series 3 and show it in australia, the women love it.
Its too bad the show will be cancelled. I love it so much more than Sex and the City. I think it is realistic and that is so important for a show. And every episode is a new surprise. I have both seasons on dvd and I could not stop watching untill I was finished. I think there is a way to make a lot of money out of Lipstick Jungle. I am gonna miss Nico, Wendy and Victory.
Love from Holland.
As already mentioned here, it is like a continuation of sex and the city. But with everyday problems and struggles in business and personal life which makes it even more realistic. I am really curious what happens to all 3 relationships. Pls give us a 3rd season!
Hugs from Portugal
I LOVE THE SHOW. cant believe they cancelled <3 from portugal
Hi, I love lipstick jungle and here in Italy they love it too! I would really apreciate, if there would be a 3rd season, but the chance is not really big! As you maybe know, they also cancelled the series Moonlight, Three rivers, Dirty sexy money…all in the last year!
Well, if the people does not like the shows on TV, the American industries are going to change the programm.
This is how it works to make a lot of money…
Hi, here in Spain we love lipstick jungle or women of manhattan as it’s known. It is like we have grown up after sex and the city and we like more this serie. Hope will go on. So elegant.
There should a third season!! they cannot finish it this way. If there are thousand of women who have liked sex and the city, why not lipstick jungle!!!
Show time is showing season 2 these days and I’ve seen season one, and i was really disappointed when I know that there will bw no season 3!!!
please am a big fan of it, and I hope to hear that there is a little hope of making season 3.
for all of Lipstic Jungle fans.
I absolutly love the seris. only one i watch theses day i have the entire seris on DVD and am so upset that there is no season 3. atleast give a final ending. ive been so looking forward to seening what happes so pls just finish iit off for us all.
What a disaster, this is the first show that gave a more realistic view on the struggles of business and social life in a big city, so much better than that desperate housewives crap, maybe if NBC had of marketed it a bit better the ratings would have improved – bring on a Season 3…
we want a third season the show is awesome it is better than most of the shows on TV
I loved the series! I’ve joined the fb group and based on the wall posts here and on the fb group it seems the show has a big following outside the US? Quite puzzelled that the show had bad ratings . I’m a loyal sex and the city girl , buy loved lipstick jungle even more. Any qualitative learnings as to why the show did badly, why did Americans not like it ??south africa
