REGRET, LOSS AND REDEMPTION ON TLC’S DOCU-SERIES “LONG LOST FAMILY”
The eight-episode docuseries premieres Sunday, March 6, 2016
Los Angeles, CA – LONG LOST FAMILY features the highly emotional and touching stories of people who have suffered a lifetime of separation and are yearning to be reunited with their birthparents and biological families or find children they had to place for adoption long ago. Either because of circumstance or fate, they’ve barely – if ever – met. The TLC series premieres Sunday, March 6 at 10/9c.
Hosts and well-known television personalities Chris Jacobs and Lisa Joyner are both adoptees who have embarked on their own journeys to discover their biological families. Each episode follows the hosts as they investigate the stories of two individuals or families who have longed to resolve their lifelong searches. The stakes are incredibly high: a successful investigation offers the promise of not just a heartwarming reunion, but also a chance of redemption for people who have wrestled with emotional agony for years.
There is no simple path to find the missing loved ones. With tightly held family secrets in their way, the odds are stacked against them. Lisa and Chris conduct painstaking searches through public records, and utilize the latest DNA technology in their search for answers. But what they discover, and who they find, is anything but expected.
Some incredible stories include:
Rita
A mother who was forced to place her baby boy for adoption 31 years ago. Rita’s boyfriend dumped her when she told him she was pregnant and her mother sent her to a home for pregnant young women for fear of a scandal. Still holding on to his baby blanket from the hospital, she longs to meet her son again and keep the promise she made to find him.
Jenny
Her birth mother was the daughter of a minister who was deeply embarrassed by a pregnancy out of wedlock. Because of the lack of support offered, she ended up placing Jenny with social services. The search for Jenny’s birth mother takes a dramatic turn, when photo evidence suggests they may have been unknowingly connected for years.
Diana and Jeannette
Two women in search for the father who suddenly vanished from their lives when they were just 4 and 5 years old. With no memories of their separation from him, the women have grown up haunted by his sudden disappearance. They hope he can be found so they can see him once again to find out the truth and ask him what happened.
Ancestry, the largest provider of family history and personal DNA testing, is teaming up with TLC as a sponsor of the upcoming season. As part of the show sponsorship, Ancestry provides family history research on each of the featured individuals to help make discoveries possible.
Long Lost Family is produced by Shed Media for TLC.

I love this show & am watching every episode. Being adopted is very hard. If only the laws would change so we can get the information we need. I am now 61 & realize that surely I have family out there, but not having any name to search for is very difficult. Keep up the encouraging shows. At least some people are getting help…
My mother was adopted as a child to family members, her sisters who are twins were also adopted by family, and they grew up as cousins, different households but always were told and let everyone else know they were sisters. Their biological mother had a total of 11 children in the 50’s and 60’s and all of them were adopted out. When I was 10, ( I am 41 now) they found my Uncle Ron, and Aunt Linda, and I shared many childhood memories getting to know Ron and his kids. Just 3 days ago they were contacted by another… Read more »
Hello, my husband is a Command Sergeant Major in the US army. He was adopted by a couple who were heavy drinkers and his adoptive father was viciously mean. They arranged to pick him up from a Denver area hospital following his birth on 1/28/61. I know he has a lot of resentment toward his real mother for giving him up but i think if he knew who she was and what she was going through it would be healing, maybe for all involved. Its probably too late now, though
What does the fact your husband is a CSM in the Army have to do with his adoption or finding anyone? Btw you capitalize Army.

I have very little to go on from what my Dad and Aunt has told me, but I believe she is somewhere close to my home town. I have been battling cancer and lupus for the past 6 years and I’ve always thought bout her and I would love the opportunity to just meet her. My Dad is 83 now and I’m sure he would like to meet his daughter. If you can help I would be very grateful thank you so much!

Check the school reunion type groups. Also it’s very time consuming, but I was able to find my cousin by narrowing it down to 2 high schools then looking at people’s posts and their friends lists . Luckily she has unique first name, so even though she was married I found her because one person was questioning if her husband (& her) were coming to his reunion(same school). Unfortunately he had no fb and she had blocked setting on hers, but I was able to find her through her daughter in laws page. It took over a year but it’s… Read more »
Hello, I was born in 1964 in California . I am not adopted (as far as I know), but the man who raised me, was most likely not my biological father, but he and my mother married 1 month before my birth, so I carry his last name. Both have passed away. He was a great dad. I had a good and happy childhood . My probable bio father is Mark Eeks/Eaks/Eaks or similar. I do not know the correct spelling. He was in the U.S Navy in the early 60’s, stationed in Long Beach, CA. I believe, when I… Read more »

I would love to help my mother find out more about her birth mother and possible relatives. She was adopted as an infant along with her half brother who was four at the time. They found their original adoption papers not long after their adoptive parents passed away. We know that she was born in Niagara Falls, NY in 1956, her birth mother’s name and her original name at birth, and also that they were Polish(as her brother spoke only Polish when first adopted)but have not been able to find any good leads. My mother will be 60 this September… Read more »
Hi, my name is Trisha Icke. I was born in 1964 in Fort Sam Houston which is in San Antonio, Texas. I’m not sure if my biological mother put me up for adoption or if I was taken from her by Catholic Charities. I have been trying to find her or my biological father for a long time. This last year I sent my DNA to Ancestry DNA. I found people who are suppose to be relatives. The one who told me she would try and help stopped contacting me so, I figured she was unable to. I hope you… Read more »

I don’t mean to intrude, and thank you for taking time to read this.. The DNA match shows that we are 3rd or 4th cousins. That’s pretty exciting just to know that. LOL Not knowing how to word this exactly, I am just going to throw this out there and hope you reply back.
