What’s This TV Show About?
A political drama airing on the CBS television network, Madam Secretary follows the shrewd, determined Elizabeth McCord (Téa Leoni). As U.S. Secretary of State, she battles office politics, while driving international diplomacy and negotiating global deals. She also handles domestic issues — both at the White House and at home. A college professor, Elizabeth was once a CIA analyst, who left her post for ethical reasons. She returned to public life at the request of President Conrad Dalton (Keith Carradine), following the death of her predecessor, Vincent Marsh (Brian Stokes Mitchell). President Dalton values Secretary McCord’s apolitical leanings, knowledge of the Middle East, flair for languages, and unconventional thinking. The cast also includes Tim Daly, Bebe Neuwirth, Željko Ivanek, Sebastian Areclus, Patina Miller, Geoffrey Arend, Erich Bergen, Kathrine Herzer, Wallis Currie-Wood, and Evan Roe.

Telly’s Take
Although Madam Secretary season three routinely draws a sizable audience for CBS, its average in the coveted 18-49 year old demo — which has never been impressive — continues to decline. However, the show’s total viewership is still healthy. I expect CBS will renew Madam Secretary for a fourth season, thereby ensuring it a decent syndication package. Syndication is where the big money is and, after all, television is a business.
3/23 update: Madam Secretary has been renewed for season four on CBS. Details here.

This is SUCH a great show for seeing how mature human beings navigate relationships and the world. I and my family are rooting like crazy for Season Four. Go CBS! This is a show Edward R. Murrow would have been thrilled to see on the network.
Love this show! The ONLY network show watch
I love this show please don’t cancel it. It’s hard to find a show with a strong woman and a strong family .
I absolutely love this show, currently, our cable company is feuding with local cbs affiliate. If this show is not renewed I will not care if they resolve their money issues, if they renew the series I will purchase the all access app if need be.
My Wife and I really enjoy this show, it’s one of only two shows I watch. It’s a show with great relevance to what’s going on in the world today.
The best show in CBS. Do not cancel please!!!
great show could use better supporting cast at the office
Move this show to Monday or Thursday nights. It will get much better ratings. I love this show. 1000% better than those stupid reality shows. Please don’t cancel this show.
Do not cancel Madam Secretary, great show!!
I love this show! Don’t cancel it please.
Please return Madam Secretary!! It has been so very disappointing to not see this outstanding program the last several weeks! I am amazed you would even consider cancelling. Madam Secretary is informative and entertaining, well written, with talented actors. A very good mix of suspense, humor, family values, and without the vulgarity and violence of most other television. An admirable production featuring women (and men) of integrity, intelligence, and strength. I had just about given up on broadcast TV until this program brought me back as a regular viewer. I watch Madam Secretary every week and continue to watch previous… Read more »
Love the show one of few shows my husband and I can actually watch together and enjoy Please do not cancel the show there is so much junk on TV and this really is one of the best shows there is there is not too much violence which I absolutely hate and is really a great show
Best show on TV. In an era when Agent Orange is in the White House, please at least give me a pretend America I can be proud of!!!
Madam Secretary is one of my favorite shows! The thing I love most about it, is not just the great story lines or fantastic cast but that it differs from every other show of its nature! NCIS was my favorite show until I began watching Madam Secretary! The fact that I’m a Canadian begging for a show about the American government & its politics should really say something! I think it would be a GINORMOUS mistake not to renew the show! My entire household are Madam Secretary fans, one of the few shows we all agree to watch! I truly… Read more »
Please come back I love this show!
CBS has deliberately murdered this show by putting it 0n when it is frequently late because of sports or eliminated because of awards specials. If the numbers are down, it is just because because viewers have gotten sick of trying to find it. If it had been on every Tuesday at 9pm, it would have been one of the top performing hours of the week.
I realize not everyone has a DVR but luckily I do and I record the whole evenings line up just to get this show so I can watch at my leisure.
