TV show description:
Created by John Fusco, this adventure TV show follows the early years of famous explorer Marco Polo (Lorenzo Richelmy) in 13th century China, as he travels the exotic Silk Road to the court of the great Kublai Khan (Benedict Wong) — Great king of Mongolian Empire.
Opulent, treacherous, and balancing on tenuous political high wires, Kublai Khan’s court in the 13th Century Mongol Empire is no place for an Italian explorer’s son — yet here he is.
Traded as a gift for access to the famed Silk Road by his father, the charismatic Marco Polo is part slave, part pet to the godlike Khan.
The ruthless ruler is being challenged by the steadfast remains of the Chinese Song dynasty — as well as by his own militant warlords. They’re growing tired of Kublai’s unproven son, Prince Jingim (Remy Hii).
The overlords of the Song Dynasty have their own webs to untangle. The empowered Chinese “Cricket” Minister Jia Sidao (Chin Han) weaves schemes to use his sister Mei Lin (Olivia Cheng) to seduce loyalty from the Chinese army in Xiangyiang.
That is, until he banishes her to a term of espionage within the Khan’s court.
Surrounded by illicit turmoil, Marco continues his physical and mental training with the sagacious, sightless Hundred Eyes (Tom Wu). Meanwhile, he plans a half-hearted escape from his ever-more-dangerous role as Kublai’s adopted son in the Empire.
But even Marco Polo can’t resist the charms of Khutulun (Claudia Kim) and the Blue Princess Kokachin (Zhu Zhu).
Episode #20 — The Fellowship
The day of the kurultai arrives which shapes Kublai’s fate as khan. Ahmad makes his final stand and Marco learns a truth that is terrible.
First aired: July 1, 2016.
What do you think? Do you like the Marco Polo TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a third season?
Marco Polo is by far, the best television series I have ever seen! To cancel this show after only 2 seasons is a travesty to not only its viewers, cast and writers, but to NETFLIX. Understandably the show budget is tremendous, but that’s is what makes the show so appealing. Boo for NETFLIX for it’s cancellation.
Bring this show back! One of the best on Netflix!
Shame they cancelled it…was a good show.
Great show!! One of the best on Nexflix! Hope it comes back!
I loved the series…. Thought is was well made a visually beautiful. I’d like it to come back……
Great show, sorry to see it go as there are so many bad shows on TV/Netflix’s. Was well done with an international cast. Realize the cost was high but the show was very good. Maybe someone else will pickup the series. Really hope so as I was hooked on the series.
Show was so well done… and I am super disappointed it has been cancelled…they need to rethink it
This was the best show on Netfl8x let alone TV and they cancelled it. Part of the reason I kept netflix was for this show alone . No need now . It’s a shame they cancel this but keep on dumb shows with no relevance depth or insight . Again with Marco Polo my netflix subscription goes with it . Thank you netflix
Best show on Netflix and they cancel it,had a good story line that made you want more.
Please continue the series, very interesting, entertaining and great insight to Mongol history and culture.
I’m 70 years old and a retired teacher. At my age, I’m very choosy about how I spend my time. Thus, watching 20 hours of first rate historical drama is no small investment time for me. Now I’m hooked, and I want more of this series.
Best show on tv period!!!!!!!!!!! Make more please! Everyone loves it.
This is a very addicting and entertaining show! It would be a mistake to cancel!
Everything about this show is superb. It would be a real mistake for netflix to not continue this series. I have seen all of the netflix productions. Marco polo surpasses all of their other shows in writing, acting, setting and production.
Marco Polo was simply spectacular. He came so far and the acting was exceptional, really bringing through his personality. Every other episode there was a well timed plot twist and every event was believable, not cheesy. Overall, the silent majority believes that this series should continue.
