TV show description:
Created by John Fusco, this adventure TV show follows the early years of famous explorer Marco Polo (Lorenzo Richelmy) in 13th century China, as he travels the exotic Silk Road to the court of the great Kublai Khan (Benedict Wong) — Great king of Mongolian Empire.
Opulent, treacherous, and balancing on tenuous political high wires, Kublai Khan’s court in the 13th Century Mongol Empire is no place for an Italian explorer’s son — yet here he is.
Traded as a gift for access to the famed Silk Road by his father, the charismatic Marco Polo is part slave, part pet to the godlike Khan.
The ruthless ruler is being challenged by the steadfast remains of the Chinese Song dynasty — as well as by his own militant warlords. They’re growing tired of Kublai’s unproven son, Prince Jingim (Remy Hii).
The overlords of the Song Dynasty have their own webs to untangle. The empowered Chinese “Cricket” Minister Jia Sidao (Chin Han) weaves schemes to use his sister Mei Lin (Olivia Cheng) to seduce loyalty from the Chinese army in Xiangyiang.
That is, until he banishes her to a term of espionage within the Khan’s court.
Surrounded by illicit turmoil, Marco continues his physical and mental training with the sagacious, sightless Hundred Eyes (Tom Wu). Meanwhile, he plans a half-hearted escape from his ever-more-dangerous role as Kublai’s adopted son in the Empire.
But even Marco Polo can’t resist the charms of Khutulun (Claudia Kim) and the Blue Princess Kokachin (Zhu Zhu).
Episode #20 — The Fellowship
The day of the kurultai arrives which shapes Kublai’s fate as khan. Ahmad makes his final stand and Marco learns a truth that is terrible.
First aired: July 1, 2016.
What do you think? Do you like the Marco Polo TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a third season?
I’m also very disappointed that MP was canceled. Such as excellent show from the writing, acting, history team. The film locations were epic! Really will miss One-Eye and MP.
I am very disappointed that Marco Polo series 3 was cancel. The ending of series 2 left us hanging with suspense. This is a history series in which I love. Please bring it back or send me the script copy so that I can read it.
Loved the show – Suck it NetFlix
Boooooo!!!!! I loved this show
Was looking forward to another season. Is a favorite of mine. I have watched both seasons several times, as well as One Hundred Eyes.
One of the few shows I could binge watch. Great drama, spectacular visuals and a great medium for up and coming English speaking actors of Asian descent.
I understand the costs have made it prohibitive, but it’d still be cool for it to continue.
This show was amazing. Loved every episode. Please reconsider and bring it back. Best show on Netflix.
So sad,great show,NETFLIX subscription cancelled.
Very sad. Loved Marco Polo. It was epic.
I love DC and Marvel but I like taking a break from the super hero stuff. This was a show of high adventure and good acting with substance I guess we will see another Marvel show lol u people keep destroying quality shame on u netflix
So disappointed that this series hasn’t been renewed. Epic!
Sad. The story line and cinematography alone warrant more time for this series.
I am really disappointed that this show, and the 3rd season has been cancelled by Netflix. I love the “scope” of the show and the intriguing plots.
I Love this show! Please bring it back!!!!!!
Too bad that great storytelling and intense interplay is so easily discarded for ‘budgetary’ concerns. Epic television is probably now extinct as we have known it, sacrificed at the alter of ‘cost considerations’. This series was one of my direct reasons to subscribe with Netflix in the first place. Netflix should reconsider this poor decision, and perhaps continue Marco Polo, with some added financial constraints. That is, if money was the bona fide reason for discarding the most riveting and insightful series I have ever seen after only 2 seasons.
