Whether the Maya & Marty TV show on NBC will be cancelled or renewed for a second season is still up in the air. Talk at the Summer 2016 TCA presser indicates the network likes the live variety series starring comedians Maya Rudolph and Martin Short, but wishes the ratings had been more robust.
Chairman Robert Greenblatt has reportedly said Lorne Michaels’ newest TV show did well enough that the Peacock Network is looking for a way to “sustain” it. Per entertainment reporter Diane Gordon, Greenblatt added, “It’s a new franchise. You try things. Six episodes yielded a lot of great stuff.”
In its first six-episode season, which premiered May 31, 2016, Maya & Marty averaged a 1.17 in the 18-49 year old viewer ratings demographic and drew an average total audience of 4.728 million viewers.

What do you think? Did you watch the first season of the Maya & Marty variety show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for season two? Tell us.
I would love to see a season 2 of Maya and Marty. We just don’t get great wholesome tv like that anymore. It’s something we can look forward to watching with the entire family.
I do know that the domain name http://www.MayaAndMarty.com is for sale if that’s any indication.
I loved the show! I wish more people knew about it. Everyone I know is still in the dark. With all the on demand tv and streaming, it’s harder to advertise. Can’t get around the ads on stream tv tho! Try that!
If it’s not too late, I would love NBC to give them another season.
Unique and funny with great guests. I think they should give it another season.
I LOVE all the people and guests on this series… Unfortunalty I didn’t laugh as much as I wanted to… If there is a second season I would watch it… But hope the laughs improve — huge fan of the people!
Fantastic! More More More!!!
They needed more time to develop this show properly but I still enjoyed it multiple variety genres of humor. They utilized film skits and live comedy extremely well. I laughed so hard at the Civil War Letter, Dad Rap Contest, Nathan Lane Hostage, and the Empire State Building Iron Worker skits. The U tube blooper reels were hilarious. They must turn Martin Short loose. Martin is so loved by his fan base, The rating they received as a summer filler were great. Marty, Maya, Kennon, and Mickey had great chemistry together, too. They should return next season with renewed comedic… Read more »
We enjoyed it. Being children of the 70’s it brought my wife and I back to the whole variety show vibe which we love with 2 of our fave comedians. Martin Short is one of the funniest humans on the planet!
Wonderful show please renew it. Loved it. Give it more than 6 shows.
I had came to the point where I did not want to watch anything on tv anymore until this show came along. This is REAL entertainment.
I love “Maya and Marty show please continue on to the next season
I want the “Maya and Marty Show” to continue this fall. The show was wonderfully humorous. I loved the sketches.
What ever happened to clean, funny and great written variety shows? These two could be the biggest hit ever if they would clean it up!
My husband and I finally found a show we can sit through together and laugh. Was wondering why we haven’t seen any commercials on new shows and yes would love for network to go for second season. Show was great and possibly time and day slot can be changed to assist with more viewers.
