ABC surprised more than a few people when the network renewed Men in Trees for a second season. Great, but where did it go?
Marin Frist (Anne Heche) is a best-selling author and relationship coach who helps women find the right man, using her own life as an example. On a plane trip to attend an Alaska conference, she finds out that her finance has been cheating on her and realizes that she doesn’t know as much as she thought she did. Marin decides to stay in the remote town (where the ratio of men to women is 10 to one) so that she can truly learn how to find and keep a good man, and write a new book. The cast also features Abraham Benrubi, Emily Bergl, Seana Kofoed, Suleka Mathew, Derek Richardson, Sarah Strange, Cynthia Stevenson, Lauren Tom, James Tupper, and John Amos.
Men in Trees debuted on September 12, 2006 on ABC. Trees followed the Fall debut of Dancing with the Stars and attracted over 12.1 million viewers. The second episode lost a third of the audience and attracted just over eight million in its regular timeslot. Despite a season of ratings ups and downs, ABC renewed Men in Trees for a second year on March 21st.
Men in Trees has been off the air however since March 8th. ABC pulled the series to make room for the debut of October Road. Trees was originally scheduled to return on April 12th but ABC has reworked its schedule more than once, delaying the return each time.
ABC has now announced that Trees fans will have to wait a whole longer to see new episodes — probably five months. The remaining five episodes of season one will now be part of Trees’ second season, bringing the sophomore year episode total to 27.
Though frustrating and unusual, this isn’t unprecedented. Grey’s Anatomy and Boston Legal both had 27 episode sophomore years. There have been rumors that ABC may change their mind and decide to air the rest this season. We’ll keep you posted so stay tuned!
I dont watch TV but a friend was watching Greys Anatomy and then Men and Trees and got me so hooked on watching TV on Thursday I even leave work a little earlier just not to miss those two shows. Please bring it back. It is a great show. All week long I look forward to see it.
off the air TWO months and still missing it what are you people thinking first thursday then sunday then back to thursday then gone all together. What? couldn’t put it on friday where you were running reruns of thursdays greys anatomy if greys is the only show you think you have worthy of watching then maybe you need someone else screening your programing.not realy a greys fan although i have tried to watch it several TIMES just dosent measure up to ER. I to was an avid fan of northern exposure just how many reality shows do programmers think people belive,… Read more »
I agree with most everything that everyone else has already said, but…most of all…that ABC should have more respect for it’s viewers and not keep bumping good shows around. I adjusted to the change from Friday night to Thursday night, but was VERY DISAPPOINTED when you took it off the air, saying it would come back in April…and then you didn’t bring it back. I watched October Road a couple times, but didn’t want to get too attached to it, as I figured you’d yank it off the air, too. There are very few shows that I make it a… Read more »
Where is Men in Trees? All my co-workers are asking the same thing? And who cares about the teeny-bopper show October Road? Please, please please bring back Men in Trees!
I’m to glad to read that the show didn’t get canceled! I think waiting for season two to air the remaining episodes is a great idea and it should be placed after a great hit show! We need more shows like this on air, PLEASE bring it BACK!!!
I love Men In Trees and so looked forward to watching it; what ever night it was on. I truely don’t understand what is wrong with thesse netword stations!! A great and different show airs and they pull it or show it so sporadically that we never know when it’s on; then they wonder why a show isn’t getting good ratings … well, duh!!! be consistant and maybe you’ll get results. Take a cue from British telly; they film a number of episodes, show them consecutively and don’t mess about with all this showing something twice, repeats, then show a… Read more »

I’m like the rest of the people out there, PLEASE bring back Men In Trees. Its one of the best shows I have seen in years. Its funny, serious, loving nature and great State to have it in. I miss seeing it on Thursday nite. I want it brought back on as soon as possible. Great series, well written and great cast. Any night will do or any time; just bring it back on ASAP and stop making us wait FIVE MONTHS for it. Please give us back ELMO.
Please don’t take Men in Trees off. Every time I get interested in a new series it gets taken off. Thanks….
I remember the good old days when the new tv season started in Sept. and ended in May or June! It is so frustrating to enjoy a show, like MIT, look forward to it, and then it is either a repeat or off the air!!!!!… please ABC and all the other networks.. respect the viewers more and you will have more of them….whoever first decided to put a rerun on after a new episode should be fired! MIT was a delightful new show, that I looked forward to all week… I agree with all the other comments…. a refreshing new… Read more »
Love MIT! Northern Exposure bumps into Sex and the City! ABC should start the season over in May and the add the additional shows they have postponed in late July. thne we won’t have so long to wait until season 2 starts.
My friend in Oregon and I have been talking frequently about what happened to Men in Trees. WE WANT IT BACK. WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH ABC. HATE THE REALITY SHOWS. BRING BACK GOOD TV.
WE WANT MEN IN TREES
WE WANT MEN IN TREES
Men in Trees had a huge following when it was on Friday night, but when they changed it to Thursday the lost a lot of viewers to the other shows on Thursday, like ER which has been big for years.
If you want the viewers back, put it back on Friday, there isn’t much to watch on Friday night anyway.
Where did Men in Trees go? That show was the one show I made time for each week!
AIR MEN IN TREES!!!!!!!
Thank you!!!!!
