Cable channel TNT has decided to cancel Men of a Certain Age after two seasons on the air.
Starring Ray Romano, Andre Braugher, and Scott Bakula, Men of a Certain Age follows the lives of three best friends as they face the realities of middle age.
Having debuted in December of 2009, the first season of Men attracted a 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.2 million total viewers. While the season started off strong, viewership quickly dwindled. Still, that was enough to see it renewed for a second season.
Year two kicked off last December to a 0.6 rating and 2.4 million viewers, essentially matching the lowest-rated episode of season one. The numbers got even worse.
TNT split year two into a pair of half-seasons with six installments each. The first half averaged a poor 0.5 demo rating with 2.16 million viewers. The second half didn’t bring any better news, garnering a 0.4 demo and 1.59 million.
With numbers like these, it’s no surprise that TNT has decided against ordering season three. The July 6th installment ends up being the defacto series finale.
A statement from TNT explains it this way: “TNT has been proud to be a part of Men of a Certain Age for two seasons. While the show has featured great storytelling and impeccable performances, the audience simply hasn’t built to the point where we can continue the series. This was an extremely difficult decision for us. We wish Ray Romano, Mike Royce and the terrific cast and crew of Men of a Certain Age the very best and look forward to exploring new programming possibilities in the future.”
What do you think? Are you sorry that Men of a Certain Age has been cancelled? Why do you think many viewers stopped watching?

I LOVE this show, just found it and now they’re canceling it?! There’s such garbage on TV, I was amazed to find this. I usually don’t watch any TV – but I watch this. PLEASE BRING IT BACK.
TNT SUCKS. Best show on TV. Good idea splitting season 2 into two six week parts. Morons! Some of the greatest shows in history took three seasons or more to catch on. Thanks TNT.you blew it again. Glad to see your going to rerun Dallas instead, thats a brilliant move. ********!!!!!
Was Southland cancelled by TNT and I missed it?
I loved, loved, LOVED Men of a Certain Age – this just ruined my night.
No, Southland was renewed for season four.
I hate that you are canceling this show. It is one of the best shows on TV today..
That sucks, it was a great show, just a horrible time slot.
I am very upset about Men Of A Certain Age being cancelled. It was one of my favorite shows. Tv is overrun by Reality shows and shows with real content can’t catch a break 🙁
Well that sucks. This was different for Ray. But still a good show. TNT is still a great network though.
Of course it was cancelled. It was way too good to stay on TV. File it with some of the greatest shows, ever. “The Unit, Southland, Detroit 187 and Chicago Code” Chicago Code may be the best show in years.
Just like Saving Grace — get us hooked on a good, entertaining show and then yank it. Way to go, TNT. NOT. They are becoming notorious for doing this. Not happy about this decision at all. I enjoyed the show, the acting, and the storylines.
NOOOOO!!!!!!!
Loved the show – a great adult drama. So very disappointed.
TNT – Please reconsider. This was one of the finest shows on televison. I watched the show from the begnning. I have turned friends on to the show; they have become hooked. This show is starting to grow legs.
TNT – Please reconsider!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
OTHER NETWORKS – Should TNT not reconsider this is your chance to capitalize. Men Of A Certain Age was wittly, poignant, clever . . . It will do well.
Good Luck!!!!
I just started watching and they go and cancell another show just after I get into it , they don’t give viewers a chance to learn and like the cast before its in the garbage can
This is a travesty. I hope Direct TV saves this series the way it did Friday Night Lights.
I love this show. Please bring it back.
