TNT has faith in their freshman series Men of a Certain Age. So much that they’ve decided to renew it for a second season before the first one is only half aired.
Men of a Certain Age follows the lives of three male friends who are adjusting to the challenges of middle age. The show stars Ray Romano, Andre Braugher, and Scott Bakula, and also features Norma Jean, Braeden Lemasters, Matt Price, Brittany Curran, Brian J. White, Shelly Desai, Lisa Gay Hamilton, Little JJ, Kwesi Boakye, Penelope Ann Miller, and Michael Hitchcock.
The series debuted to big numbers on December 7th, attracting 5.4 million viewers. That represented ad-supported cable’s top launch of 2009 for households and those ages 25-54 (a natural demographic for the series).
The numbers have dropped significantly since the premiere, with the most recent installment hitting a series low of about 2.9 million viewers.
Despite the decline, TNT believes in Men enough to renew the show for another round of 10 episodes. TNT executive VP Michael Wright said, “Men of a Certain Age has been embraced by viewers and critics alike, making our decision to renew an easy one.”
Season one is expected to finish on February 22nd. No word on when Men will return for season two.
What do you think? Are you glad that Men of a Certain Age is continuing or should it have been cancelled?

FABULOUS SHOW. Smart, well-acted, very realistic. We’ve just gotten to know these men; let’s see where life takes them!
Great show, glad it was renewed, my husband and I both – its insightful and the writing is so real, love the whole cast.
Yay!! to Ray!! Thank you for a wonderfully written show. Finally television is giving us what we want. TNT is where I’ve been hanging my hat for several years. Kudos!!!!
We Love the show and can really relate to it. The acting is superb and comes off so natural. They are your average guys. Look forward to every Monday. So glad the series will be renewed.
I AM SO HAPPY THIS SHOW IS BEING RENEWED. OBVIOUSLY THE NETWORK UNDERSTANDS QUALITY PROGRAMMING. THIS SHOW IS VERY GOOD AND I AM SO IMPRESSED WITH RAY. I WAS AFFRAID IT WOULD BE CANCELLED AFTER THE FIRST SEASON. HOWEVER, IT SEEMS MANY ARE ENJOYING AND CAN RELATE TO THE SERIES.
i am sorry excited that the network understands quality programming. this show is very good and realistic. i was affraid that the show would be cancelled after the first season. however, it seems that many people can relate to this program and are supporting it.
Gave up on sitcoms years ago. This show brought me back because I relate to it. Cant wait for Monday nights.
I HOPE IT CONTINUES! IT IS A GREAT SHOW!
Yes yes yes! Excellent writing. Excellent cast.
The show is great, writers must be middle aged themselves. Keep it going, better than most other shows out there.
KG
Yes, this is a great show really puts a smile on your face.
I am very glad the show was renewed. It is adult and well written, never slick or going for the easy or obvious way out. The acting is also subtle and very human. Sponsors who want to tap into the adult customers who have money to spend should consider the appeal this program and these actors have for us Boomers.
I thought it was a great show, as long as it doesn’t compete with some of the other high hitter series. “Lost” is starting soon so they don’t even want to go there!
And I love me some Brian White, so I’ll be watching for sure.
🙂
Yes, more Brian White in season 2! I love this show, it’s just brilliant!
Yes, Men of a Certain Age should be renewed because it is a very good show. It has drama and comedy all rolled into one. I am glad to see it coming back. I do think Brian White should be more visible in the new season.
