TNT has faith in their freshman series Men of a Certain Age. So much that they’ve decided to renew it for a second season before the first one is only half aired.
Men of a Certain Age follows the lives of three male friends who are adjusting to the challenges of middle age. The show stars Ray Romano, Andre Braugher, and Scott Bakula, and also features Norma Jean, Braeden Lemasters, Matt Price, Brittany Curran, Brian J. White, Shelly Desai, Lisa Gay Hamilton, Little JJ, Kwesi Boakye, Penelope Ann Miller, and Michael Hitchcock.
The series debuted to big numbers on December 7th, attracting 5.4 million viewers. That represented ad-supported cable’s top launch of 2009 for households and those ages 25-54 (a natural demographic for the series).
The numbers have dropped significantly since the premiere, with the most recent installment hitting a series low of about 2.9 million viewers.
Despite the decline, TNT believes in Men enough to renew the show for another round of 10 episodes. TNT executive VP Michael Wright said, “Men of a Certain Age has been embraced by viewers and critics alike, making our decision to renew an easy one.”
Season one is expected to finish on February 22nd. No word on when Men will return for season two.
What do you think? Are you glad that Men of a Certain Age is continuing or should it have been cancelled?

Love the show and I’m sad Season 1 is over. Can’t wait for round 2.
I absolutely love this show!! The writing is stellar complete with humor, wit and good drama. I hope they will continue after season 2.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this show!!!!!! So Happy to hear they will have another season…I sincerely hope they continue to have more seasons after that. I am sick to death of good shows being canceled and this is far better then a “good” show…this is a GREAT SHOW! In it’s short time it has become my favorite show surpassing CSI’s , NCIS, Two and a half men, and other notable shows. Don’t believe me….Don’t think I am a real viewer…then write me. Heck I even switched the channel from the OLYMPICS to watch Men of a Certain Age…does that tell you… Read more »
Can’t wait for season 2! Excellent – Loved the end of the season show – I hope it’s on soon!
This is the best show on TV. I rarely watch TV anymore because there doesn’t seem to be anything on I can relate to. I haven’t enjoyed a show this much since Bernic Mac and Frasier. It is very well written, smart and believable. Great work.
Love this show. The plot lines are absolutly believable, the characters real, and theme relevant. My favorite show on tv right now. Maybe they can change the time slot to a little earlier though….
I’ve never really picked up shows to watch, but I was always a big fan of Everybody Loves Raymond, so naturally when I saw that Ray Romano was going to star, I was intrigued. Glad I was. I probably don’t understand many of the situations because of my young age, but I thought this was a well put together show. It gives you superb drama, and with it comes a delicious side of humor, that just made you smile big. Looking forward to season 2.
Love the show, well written and acted.
Huge fan! I’m only 32 but I love this show! Great characters, acting and the script feels just like hanging with my boys. I hope more people watch it because this show could have the legs to go for a long long hike!
By far the best show on TV. I am moved every week, I laugh. It is amazing!!!!!! The season finale was superbly done.
We look forward to this show every week and cannot wait for season 2…
Excellent program — one of a very few my wife and I both enjoy. Glad they renewed it!
I love the show, but its almost too realistic for me. I just sweat bullets when Joe made the massive bet and couldn’t watch that part. And when Owen didn’t get the dealership, I just can’t stand it and feel so sad. Why can’t these guys get a break? Why don’t they have better family lives?
It’s a great show. I’m 52 years old so I can relate to the show’s situations and the characters. I’m very pleased to hear that TNT has renewed the series for a second season. I am looking forward to the season finale and season two.
I wish they advertised this show better because it is ome of the best shows on TV now. I am so glad that TNT gave it more time. I recommend this show to people all the time and all of them are hooked now too. How refreshing to see great writing like this.
