The latest medical drama on CBS is going the way of Three Rivers and NBC’s Mercy and Trauma. Miami Medical has been cancelled after one season on the air. However, there is some good news.
Miami Medical follows the exciting lives of a group of talented surgeons who work at one of the best trauma centers in the country. The Friday night drama features Lana Parrilla , Jeremy Northam, Omar Gooding, Mike Vogel, and Elisabeth Harnois.
The CBS medical series got off to a poor start on April 2nd with a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.59 million viewers. In week two, the numbers dropped to a 1.4 rating in the demo and 7.1 million viewers. Viewership has continued to tumble and thus far, the season has averaged a disappointing 1.3 rating in the demo and 6.7 million viewers.
To put these figures in perspective, Numb3rs’ season had better numbers — an average of a 1.8 rating and 8.27 million — and was ultimately cancelled.

And now, like so many of the other medical dramas from this season, Miami Medical has been cancelled. There won’t be a second season.
On the positive side, the show was scheduled to finish its run tonight, leaving five of its 13 episodes unaired. But now, CBS has added some additional airdates.
Next Friday’s will be a repeat of the pilot episode. Then, original episodes will return on June 4th, paired with new installments of Flashpoint. The last episode of Miami Medical is expected to air on July 2nd.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Miami Medical’s been cancelled or should it have been pulled awhile ago?

Just want to add my comment to the group. I think Miami Medical is an awesome show that deserves to be better promoted and on a better night. CBS don’t be so quick to cancel. Pay respect to the 1.3 million viewers who have faithfully watched all this time.
Please don’t cancel Miami Medical. It is the only show on Friday worth watching. Friday is a lost cause for TV. You can really get into the stories and feel the emotion of all the characters. I have actually learned a few things in the few short episodes in has been on. Please give it one more season, I think you will be pleasantly surprised. I think it will be another Grey’s !!
Miami Medical is a great show. It is the only show on or that has been where the dr and nurses aren’t hopping in and out of bed with other dr and rns. I think the actors are a breath of fresh air. Talented, poised and they have good delivery.
Keep it on.
I love this show! Please don’t cancel it. I love the characters and all the story lines. CBS never gave this program a chance or promoted it like it should have. CBS saved Medium, another great program. CBS should save Miami Medical.
Yeah, move Miami Medical to a different night. DON’T CANCEL THE SHOW!
I dont know why they didnt give this show a chance. Love the show, love the cast, love everything about it. If you are not # 1 right away they dump you. I am getting tired ot getting involved in a series just to have it dumped.
CBS: you apparently don’t remember how “HOUSE” started its run on FOX. Well, Miami Medical has that kind of potential to grow, even bigger than “House”. The characters, actors, & scree plays are all very good. The interaction with them is excellent. PLEASE give Miami Medical another season.
Move it to another night. Fridays at 10:00 PM has never been a good spot to start a new show.
Miami Medical is the BEST medical show with the smartest doctors and best storylines for the characters. The show starts off with a BOOM and finishes with a BOOM!! I can not fall asleep on this show even if I wanted to. I am glued to my television until the showings of next weeks episodes. DO NOT TAKE THIS SHOW OFF THE AIR!!!
PS. Thank you for bringing back Flash Point. Keep Miami Medical! Two thumbs up!
I actually liked the show… will be sorry to see it go. However, I have learned not to get too attached to any program. CBS is great for pulling the plug.
Anytime a Good show comes on, the networks scrap it cause it doesn”t have good enough numbers. Yet crappy shows stay and stay. Does that mean that there are more idiots in the world than sensible ones? OR, does it just mean there are more Idiot Programmers than sensible ones? Miami Medical is a great show. I’m sorry to see it go. I’ve enjoyed every episode.
I love that Show. So very disappointed that it is being cancelled. Give it another chance. Try one more season… but air it though the winter when we are all house bound!
We don’t want to see a good show die! Miami Medical is well cast and well produced but it was not well marketed & promoted. We want CBS to give this talented crew a better time slot and enough episodes to for audiences to discover it. Surely Jerry Bruckheimer has enough know-how to do make that happen!
they should have linked this show to MIAMI C.S.I. on a viable nite instead of the 1/2 hearted CBS attempt to let this show survive on it’s own without hardley anyone knowing about it on a friday nite; with the STONES 19th NERVOUS BREAKDOWN for an intro what else could us boomers have hoped for!!!!
Watching last night’s episode now–I hope they at least air the final 2 episodes. Will be sad to see this good show go. I enjoyed all of this year’s medical dramas–will be sorry to see them all go. What will be the theme of next year’s flood of cancelled shows?!
