The latest medical drama on CBS is going the way of Three Rivers and NBC’s Mercy and Trauma. Miami Medical has been cancelled after one season on the air. However, there is some good news.
Miami Medical follows the exciting lives of a group of talented surgeons who work at one of the best trauma centers in the country. The Friday night drama features Lana Parrilla , Jeremy Northam, Omar Gooding, Mike Vogel, and Elisabeth Harnois.
The CBS medical series got off to a poor start on April 2nd with a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.59 million viewers. In week two, the numbers dropped to a 1.4 rating in the demo and 7.1 million viewers. Viewership has continued to tumble and thus far, the season has averaged a disappointing 1.3 rating in the demo and 6.7 million viewers.
To put these figures in perspective, Numb3rs’ season had better numbers — an average of a 1.8 rating and 8.27 million — and was ultimately cancelled.

And now, like so many of the other medical dramas from this season, Miami Medical has been cancelled. There won’t be a second season.
On the positive side, the show was scheduled to finish its run tonight, leaving five of its 13 episodes unaired. But now, CBS has added some additional airdates.
Next Friday’s will be a repeat of the pilot episode. Then, original episodes will return on June 4th, paired with new installments of Flashpoint. The last episode of Miami Medical is expected to air on July 2nd.

I cannot believe that they are canceling Miami Medical. The cast is great, and
the stories were great. What more do you need? I don’t even watch medical shows,
and got hooked on this one.

Miami Medical was the best medical show ever on television. CBS executives better get their head out of their – Ummmmm – the sand and advertise that this show is the best of the best, which might just get people to watch it. It’s not always ratings, which prove little, depending on where the test group is located, but the demographics of the people that will purchase advertisers products. I don’t believe the show lost money from advertisers, so just what is the real reason for canceling the show?
i just got done watching last nights epsidode and it said next weeks will be the season finale and if it were the last episode they would say series finale so whats going on!
Miami Medical is one of the most true-to-life medical shows to be on the air. If you live in Florida, you realize that the situations are all things that DO happen here………sinkholes, gator attacks, stingray bites, etc. PLEASE DON’T CANCEL IT!
It would be nice for some networks to give a chance to some good shows to gather their audience (remember Star Trek?!). This show is/was great. Good plot, not too emotionally centered with lots of action. A great cast. Really too bad it is canceled… another good one bites the dust. Not many left now you know!
I am really sorry that they have cancelled Miami Medical. It was well written and the acting was great! Why do they keep doing this??? I also really liked Mercy and Trama. I wish there was something we could do to get these shows renewed!!!! I agree about all the reality shows. Please stop these mindless reality shows and renew the well written dramas that we look forward to watching. If anyone knows how we can get these shows renewed, please post what we have to do. I love miami medical and can not believe they are taking it off the air. What is happening with CBS anyway. Dropping good shows, letting good actresses and actors go then giving a raise to charlie sheen who is a drunk, drug addicted womanizer with no principles. I am about to give up on CBS all together. It is sad since I have been so loyal to CBS.
The one thing that really bothered me, most noticeably in the episode involving the building collapsing into a sinkhole was when the doc who was sent down to amputate was ridiculously chatty when he had moments to work. Just stupid. At other times when they would try to establish character and relationships, there was too much serious stuff going on and again, unrealistic.
I can’t believe that this show is being canceled!!! I LOVE it and look forward to watching it every Friday night. Why is it that just when you get into a GREAT show the network decides to pull it??? Maybe they should do a little more research rather than just look strictly at the information they choose to view?? I bet that there are a TON of people who feel the same way that I do. Something needs to be done to save this show!!!!
I wish there were a second season. I really got into the show. It is a real disapointment that the show was cancelled.
Why do they always cancel good shows and dont give them a chance. What about moving them to a different night. Friday night is a hard night. Do the networks ever wonder why everyone is going to cable channels. Because they do things like this. Next time you watch an award show for TV see how many main channel shows are nominated….Why dont they put those ratings boxes in real peoples houses. Please send a band aid to CBS. Maybe they will patch their booboo and bring back Miami Medical. I am so tired of Island survivals, Big Brothers, lawyer shows and how many cop shows so you need in a week?
Miami Medical on a Friday night was my lifeline. Are the CBS bigwigs only interested in the almighty first ratings? ER wasn’t great when it first came out! A series is like a good book-you have to lay some ground work first. Patience is a virtue gang. Everyone should get on the Miami Medical wagon and flood the network!!!
I cannot believe that it’s going to be canceled. It never even got a chance to really develop. I agree with others about the poor timing. I think it deserves a second chance. As a television enthusiast/critic I think there are several shows that are more deserving of a cancellation. Please don’t cancel this show, it seemed to be getting better with time and I looked forward to what would happen next. Perhaps there is some hope that another network will pick it up.
