The latest medical drama on CBS is going the way of Three Rivers and NBC’s Mercy and Trauma. Miami Medical has been cancelled after one season on the air. However, there is some good news.
Miami Medical follows the exciting lives of a group of talented surgeons who work at one of the best trauma centers in the country. The Friday night drama features Lana Parrilla , Jeremy Northam, Omar Gooding, Mike Vogel, and Elisabeth Harnois.
The CBS medical series got off to a poor start on April 2nd with a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.59 million viewers. In week two, the numbers dropped to a 1.4 rating in the demo and 7.1 million viewers. Viewership has continued to tumble and thus far, the season has averaged a disappointing 1.3 rating in the demo and 6.7 million viewers.
To put these figures in perspective, Numb3rs’ season had better numbers — an average of a 1.8 rating and 8.27 million — and was ultimately cancelled.

And now, like so many of the other medical dramas from this season, Miami Medical has been cancelled. There won’t be a second season.
On the positive side, the show was scheduled to finish its run tonight, leaving five of its 13 episodes unaired. But now, CBS has added some additional airdates.
Next Friday’s will be a repeat of the pilot episode. Then, original episodes will return on June 4th, paired with new installments of Flashpoint. The last episode of Miami Medical is expected to air on July 2nd.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Miami Medical’s been cancelled or should it have been pulled awhile ago?

I am very disappointed that another great show is being canceled! In the fall there will be nothing to watch on T.V. For the last few years networks are bringing out new shows and we get into them and really like it and then the network cancels the show. It is getting really frustrating that this happening to good shows!! Give them a chance!!!!!!
We love this show. No idea why it has been canceled. Of course, we are not sure why Numb3rs was canceled either. Do the people who make these decisions even watch the shows?
I don’t understand how they can cancel one of the best shows to come on TV in ages. I have loved and kept up with the CSI group and they are excellent but I can’t wait for Friday to roll around so I can watch another episode of Miami Medical.
are you kidding me? Three Rivers Miami Medical gone what so we can watch big brother the bachleor or some tripe like that why dont the guys upstairs tune in and either move it to another day and check ratings there before ditching some of the best tv in a very long time. Im losing my faith Seems TNT has better programing than nbc cbs or abc Wake up
Why is it that the networks are catering to the twenty something group. There isn’t anything left worth watching for us over 40. I am sick of the reality crap that is on every channel and stupid game shows. The only thing left worth watching is House and Greys Anatomy. What the heck is wrong with you people?
That sucks. I absolutely love this show and im very upset that its going away. All the good stuff is being canceled. i really hope that another station picks it up.
I can not believe this show is not coming back with a second season. I loved this show, I think whoever decided not to air Miami medical for a second season is making the biggest mistake ever. This is the best medical show ever. Hopefully they will change their minds and air it for a second season.
Pretty soon all my tv viewing is going to be dvd’s and reruns because they cancel everything with promise, and keep a bunch of garbage, ie: reality shows. To bad another station wouldnt pick this up, hint hint.
This is a huge mistake! The show was excellent and the plots interesting. I hate that everything comes down to ratings, I realize the networks are out there to make money, but perhaps putting the show on another night like Sunday? or Monday? For me fridays work, but for most they are out shopping etc…. I hope the show will come back. Thanks!
I absolutely loved this show and so did my wife. Why do they always cancel the good shows and leave the lousy on. I never understand these tv people. I wish it was going on to season 2. Oh well that’s the way the cookie crumbles.
this was a very good medical drama. The show should have been on a different day insterad of Friday nights. If so I’m sure the ratings would have been much better.
I figures ever show that shows good promise, has great characters and storylines…….Gets cancelled. But they make us put up with tripe like the bachlor ect.
Why are the networks canceling all the good shows? As it stands now there really isn’t anything worth watching on CBS, ABC, or NBC. I really loved this show. Why don’t they bring it back!!
Aren’t these the same guys who cancelled the original “Startrek” because they thought it wasn’t going anywhere? Even if it wasn’t, this network is guilty of the same kind of thinking. Instant gratification ie, will this turkey make us some money quickly . No time to see if a decent following will develope. I am just one viewer. I can’t have much of an impact on programming. But I have always felt it so unfair for them to play with my emotions, introduce me to shows I really like, and then leave me hanging for closure. “Numbers” now, it ran… Read more »
I can’t believe that this show is not being given a second season. I truly believe that if it continues to follow Flashpoint, the ratings will go up. I am sick of the Medium and I think that’s part of the problem…Miami Medical had been following the Medium. Now that Flashpoint is back in swing, I think it will improve. I can’t believe that all of these moron reality shows continue to air and you are taking off my Miami Medical…Please re-consider.
This is an intelligent, well-characterized show, with amazingly, (for this genre) accurate medical information. There is such a dearth of good shows, it’s incredibly disappointing to lose this one. I’ve enjoyed every single episode, and will miss my Friday night fix. It’s also one of the best show theme songs. I mean – the Stones! Works for me.
