The latest medical drama on CBS is going the way of Three Rivers and NBC’s Mercy and Trauma. Miami Medical has been cancelled after one season on the air. However, there is some good news.
Miami Medical follows the exciting lives of a group of talented surgeons who work at one of the best trauma centers in the country. The Friday night drama features Lana Parrilla , Jeremy Northam, Omar Gooding, Mike Vogel, and Elisabeth Harnois.
The CBS medical series got off to a poor start on April 2nd with a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.59 million viewers. In week two, the numbers dropped to a 1.4 rating in the demo and 7.1 million viewers. Viewership has continued to tumble and thus far, the season has averaged a disappointing 1.3 rating in the demo and 6.7 million viewers.
To put these figures in perspective, Numb3rs’ season had better numbers — an average of a 1.8 rating and 8.27 million — and was ultimately cancelled.

And now, like so many of the other medical dramas from this season, Miami Medical has been cancelled. There won’t be a second season.
On the positive side, the show was scheduled to finish its run tonight, leaving five of its 13 episodes unaired. But now, CBS has added some additional airdates.
Next Friday’s will be a repeat of the pilot episode. Then, original episodes will return on June 4th, paired with new installments of Flashpoint. The last episode of Miami Medical is expected to air on July 2nd.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Miami Medical’s been cancelled or should it have been pulled awhile ago?

I adore this show! I am astonished that Miami Medical and Three Rivers are being taken off the air. These are the 2 best shows on television.
I loved Miami Medical. I am sad to see it was cancelled, all the good ones do. PLEASE bring it back
I really liked this show and now of course it has been cancelled. I wish the powers that be would have given this show a chance. Stupid shows like Wipeout and In it to Win it keep airing and the great shows with great writing, excellent acting are canned. I don’t get it! Miami Medical was a show I looked forward to seeing every week, bring it BACK!!
Every comment left is telling the network the same thing- BRING BACK MIAMI MEDICAL !!!!! This is one of the best shows on television. I can’t wait until Friday night to watch the latest episode. Come on and wake up whoever is in charge. I hope another network will pick up this wonderful show and notice that there are loyal fans week after week.
This was one of the most awesome shows on television in many years. I am getting tired of just about all the network series being filled with sex, violence, and more sex. Perhaps if the staff were having affairs with each other, patients, etc. Like another poplar medical series, that has been around for many seasons. It probably would have continued. It was just a good show that focused on professional people whose main objective was to save lives. I am really going to miss this show. Think about it. Do you recall any of the main characters being mean… Read more »
Amen, sister. Loved the cast…loved the positive relationships it portrayed…loved the “realness”of the characters. I could relate much better to the doctor and his brother working out their shifting relationship than I could to the sex in the broom closets while on duty and supposedly caring for patients.
It seems they don’t even keep a show on long enough these days to give it a following. My husband and I really enjoyed this show and were looking forward to a long run. We are sick of all the realiity shows and watching people make fools of themselves by trying to win a spouse on tv or bounce around on some padded blocks. Give us back some quality TV and maybe more people would tune in.
Why do these people think that the only people that what tv are 20 somethings. They keep bringing back Big Brother tv realty show because its Julie Chen’s baby, and take off an intellegent show like Miami Medical. It really does makes you want to scream!
I really liked this show. I’m sorry it was cancelled. I’m running out of shows to watch.
I loved this show, was the only good show on Friday night. It should be given a chance for a second season. Great cast and story lines!!!!!!!!!!
Absolutely loved this show. One of the best medical shows on tv. The Friday night time slot just stinks for any show. They should bring it back for a second season on a Thursday night when there is nothing worth watching on tv.
I love the show, the actors are great. Sick and tired of the good shows being cancelled
What a shame. Flashpoint and Miami Medical were the standout shows in an otherwise bland season. I wish HBO or some other Cable outfit would pick it up. Maybe NBC or ABC?
Great writing. Great acting.
Sorry to see it go.
I think Miami Medical is a great show, so It’s no wonder it’s going to be cancelled. Everytime a good show is aired, It gets cancelled, and still all the crap shows go on. Why anyone still watches TV is a is a wonder to me.
I loved this show….it had great actors and terrific stories. BRING IT BACK!!!!
Miami Medical, Mercy & Trauma may have been aimed at adults, but it was my 10-year-old daughter that ALWAYS remembered the exact day and time each of them would air. These shows were not only well written, but they had intriguing characters, great plots and wonderful acting. I say “thank goodness for cable” because network TV is rapidly losing my interest. The commentators on this site are 100% right — reality TV shows like The Bachelor, Survivor, and Kate + 8 are pathetic, boring and idiotic, but they all have one incredibly redeeming quality to the networks: they’re CHEAP TO… Read more »
I loved Miami Medical! My husband and I couldn’t wait to watch it every week. I agree that if it was on a different night than it would have done better. Why would they cancel a good show like this when there are so many bad shows on the tv.
