Could this be a happy beginning? Casey Wilson, star of cancelled TV shows including Happy Endings and Marry Me, is set to guest star in the fifth season of The Mindy Project on Hulu. Ike Barinholtz broke the news, when EW interviewed him about the current season of Mindy Kaling’s comedy. Other guest stars this season include Bryan Greenberg, Rebecca Rittenhouse, Bill Hader, BJ Novak, and Nasim Pedrad.
Barinholtz, who plays nurse Morgan Tookers on the show, has written and directed a few episodes in season five, which premiered October 4th. Wilson follows in the footsteps of her Happy Endings colleagues Adam Pally, who played The Mindy Project‘s Dr. Peter Prentice for two seasons, as well as Eliza Coupe, who guest starred in four episodes of season four.
Here is more from EW:
Barinholtz discussed his dream casting and what material usually ends up on the cutting room floor before he revealed that Happy Endings star Casey Wilson will be featured in one of the show’s upcoming episodes.
“We just shot an episode last week that will air in a month or so where one of Mindy’s old friends from her past comes back,” he started. “And, kind of, right after we read the table read, Mindy and I were talking and we were like, ‘What about Casey Wilson?’”
Starring Kaling as Dr. Mindy Lahiri, the Hulu sitcom features the ups and downs of the New York City OB-GYN’s personal and professional lives. The cast also includes Ed Weeks, Chris Messina, and Xosha Roquemore.
