In addition to dropping Southland, TNT has also cancelled Monday Mornings. There won’t be a second season for the freshman medical drama.
Monday Mornings follows the lives of the talented yet flawed doctors at the Chelsea General Hospital in Portland, Oregon. The title refers to the tough peer review meetings that are run by the hospital’s sarcastic Chief of Staff. The cast includes Ving Rhames, Jamie Bamber, Jennifer Finnigan, Bill Irwin, Keong Sim, Sarayu Rao, Emily Swallow, and Alfred Molina.
The show started off the season with just 1.36 million viewers and a 0.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That was less than half of what the Dallas premiere lead-in drew with 2.98 million and a 0.8 demo rating.
The numbers for Monday Mornings didn’t get much better as the weeks wore on. The season ended up averaging just 1.39 million viewers and a 0.3 in the demo.
That just wasn’t enough for TNT to want to order a second season and they’ve now officially cancelled it.
What do you think? Are you sorry that TNT has pulled the plug on Monday Mornings? Why do you think it didn’t catch on with a bigger audience?
Very, very disappointed this well written, well performed and well scripted show is cancelled.
Bring it back PLEASE! Loved this show!
I too am upset that they cancelled Monday Mornings. Wish I would have done a better job promoting it…bring it back and give its faithful followers another chance .
I was checking to see when the new season would start, so disappointed that its been cancel. It shows that Doctors are human not Gods, that mistakes are sure to happen. I hope they are watching them for we are at the hospital mercy !
Both my Husband and I loved this show!! Why do all the good shows get cancelled? There are a lot out there that should be cancelled. Please bring Monday Mornings Back!!!!!!
I agree! Great show! Provocative scripts thanks to David Kelley. It never got the audience it deserved; too cerebral and controversial for the audience whose money pays the commerical bills. Come on TNT!! Show some guts! Put this back on the air!
One of the best shows, like no other doctor shows. Please try one more season. It really didn’t become popular until late in its season.
This show was something to look forward to each week. I am truly sorry it wasn’t given a chance to catch on. I can’t believe some of the other garbage that they haven’t cancelled. Obviously the american public would rather not have to think and watch tv at the same time.
One of the best shows on tv. Please renew it!!!
Monday Mornings was a great show..why not give it another season, a lot of ppl (like myself), did not discover it until later on, please bring it back, thank you!
This was one of the few shows my husband and I watch. The writing and acting were superb and it was thought provoking. So sorry to hear that it’s been canceled.
Can’t believe they cancelled this show, loved it.
Monday Mornings was what a medical show should be. It had quality writing, a unique concept, and as quality a cast as anyone could hope for in series. The concept of dissecting a medical mortality case in an auditorium filled with Doctors, provided for some riveting drama. As the Doctor whose case was being scrutinized for all to see and comment on, started to sweat, so did all who watched. It was superb writing accompanied by superb acting. But, as with many quality productions, the viewing public never showed up, and the show was cancelled. Our loss. Monday Mornings was… Read more »
That show was great and truly intriguing. I can’t believe a show as great as Monday Mornings was cancelled and all those crappie reality shows are still on the air. TV is gradually becoming worse and worse. It seems quality shows are not what people are wanting to watch…….. Just trash TV. Smh
This was one of the best shows on t.v. so sad that all the crap shows like american idle and x facter stay on and this gets cancelled. Its a sad t.v world, think god for sports.
