TV show description:
This medical drama follows the staff of Chelsea General Hospital in Portland, Oregon as they push their abilities and confront their personal and professional failings.
Doctors face life-and-death decisions every day as they fight against often-impossible odds to save their patients. When things don’t go as they should, it’s up to their medical colleagues to determine what went wrong and what can be learned.
Every Monday, the doctors of Chelsea General must gather with their peers for a confidential review of complications and errors in patient care.
Leading the hospital staff are Doctor Harding Hooten (Alfred Molina) and Doctor Jorge Villanueva (Ving Rhames).
Hooten is the steely-eyed Chief of Staff, speaks softly but carries a massive stick. He was nicknamed “Hardly Human” long ago for his exacting, punishing ways during the weekly morbidity and mortality meetings.
Villanueva, known as El Gato, is a giant of a man. He is also perhaps the most celebrated trauma chief in the country — clearly the elephant in this circus. El Gato’s seat-of-the-pants diagnoses are the stuff of legend around Chelsea General.
Their cadre of medical talent includes:
Doctor Tyler Wison (Jamie Bamber), a hotshot neurosurgeon who has a well-earned god complex. Doctor Tina Ridgeway (Jennifer Finnigan), a compassionate neurosurgeon who’s willing to fight for cases that may seem like lost causes to others. Her home life is in turmoil so she finds refuge at the hospital.
Doctor Sung Park (Keong Sim) is a Korean-American and is abrupt socially and English-challenged. He’s also ambitious to the core with his searing intensity being palpable. Doctor Sydney Napur (Sarayu Rao) is a cardiothoracic surgeon who’s married to the job. A compulsive multi-tasker, she speaks quickly and takes absolutely no prisoners.
Doctor Buck Tierney (Bill Irwin) is the hospital’s Chief of Transplantation. A man driven to the point of bullish, he is least liked among the Chelsea General staff. Doctor Michelle Robidaux (Emily Swallow) is a twenty-something resident. Inexperienced yet eager, she is finding her footing among experienced giants.
Episode #10 — Family Ties
Hooten and Buck find themselves facing off in court against attorney Mitch Tompkins (guest Anthony Heald) after a grieving son refuses to comply with his mother’s final wishes.
Sydney’s outrage over the health of a morbidly obese 16-year-old boy further strains her relationship with Lieberman (guest Jonathan Silverman). And a seemingly harmless patient (guest Kenneth Mitchell) puts one of Chelsea General’s own in grave danger.
First aired: April 8, 2013.
What do you think? Do you like the Monday Mornings TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for another season?
monday mornings is (was) one of the VERY best shows on television in recent years..thoughtful, intelligent, sad and even funny…what a shame that it has been cancelled…is really a pity that the public feels the need to watch reality shows to feel better about themselves….
This is one of the best shows on TV, I eagerly await Monday night for the show to air. I cannot believe TNT has cancelled it!
Great writing, great stories, great direction, great actors, great sets………
DO NOT CANCEL THIS SHOW!
Best medical drama I have seen to date. Real life morbidity and mortality reviews are awesome! I’ve worked in a hospital over 25 years and this was the best medical drama I’ve seen. True to life. Please, give it another chance. Is anothe Network listening? Dr. Sanjee Gupta is an awesome consultant to this show as well. Please reconsider!!
Linda
Keep this show. I loved it. Get rid of all the reality crap shows. Enough is enough. Fire the bozo who decided to cancel this excellent show!
Alfred Molina /// Awesome as the head of surgery. The camaraderie between Molina and Big Gato Rhames is engaging. Give this a chance. Is another network listening. I understand the low numbers. That is because of poor advertising and even though I like the name, MONDAY MORNINGS it is confusing to a viewer just passing by in the TV Guide or other TV listing. As good as Grey Anatomy was in its infancy.
THIS IS CURRENTLY THE BEST SHOW ON TV – HAVE A **REAL NETWORK** KEEP THIS SHOW ON THE AIR !!!!!!!!!!!
I loved this series because it was different than most of the other hospital shows. I have been looking for it everywhere. I’m not sure I even saw the last show. It was one of the few programs worth watching. Please bring it back!! I am 71 also.
Bring it back!! It was wonderful!
I was very disappointed to find that this series, which was just finding its legs, was cancelled. With a little more tweaking, it could have stood up with ‘St. Elsewhere’ and ‘ER’. A little patience and trust in veteran actors like Alfred Molina and Ving Rhames would have been greatly appreciated. As usual, its drop quality, and add yet another pathetic comedy that’s nothing more than product placement, or even worse, another true-life of the rich and narcissistic.
They NEVER should have cancelled this show! What is wrong with these people? This was the only show worth watching all last season!
TNT I don’t know who you hired to chose what stays and what goes on your network but they need to be fired immediately!!! canceling Monday Mornings is a bad idea. we have enough cheesy reality crap, we need good drama and thats what we got with monday mornings. please I beg you do not take this wonderfully brilliant show off the air.
This show should not be cancelled. Great story lines and the cast was awesome!
Monday Mornings should’ve never been cancelled. First, maybe the name of the show should’ve reflected something about doctors. When we first watched, we didn’t know what it was about, then after the first episode we were hooked, and ended up watching the full season. It’s a damn shame, the good shows get cancelled, and the questionable shows stay on the air. Excellent Cast!
RENEW ! I’m so tired of them canceling great shows and keeping racy nothing of a show! Seriously?
Renew this show. Its the only TV show I can watch with my 24 year old grandson and I’m 71.
