TV show description:
This medical drama follows the staff of Chelsea General Hospital in Portland, Oregon as they push their abilities and confront their personal and professional failings.
Doctors face life-and-death decisions every day as they fight against often-impossible odds to save their patients. When things don’t go as they should, it’s up to their medical colleagues to determine what went wrong and what can be learned.
Every Monday, the doctors of Chelsea General must gather with their peers for a confidential review of complications and errors in patient care.
Leading the hospital staff are Doctor Harding Hooten (Alfred Molina) and Doctor Jorge Villanueva (Ving Rhames).
Hooten is the steely-eyed Chief of Staff, speaks softly but carries a massive stick. He was nicknamed “Hardly Human” long ago for his exacting, punishing ways during the weekly morbidity and mortality meetings.
Villanueva, known as El Gato, is a giant of a man. He is also perhaps the most celebrated trauma chief in the country — clearly the elephant in this circus. El Gato’s seat-of-the-pants diagnoses are the stuff of legend around Chelsea General.
Their cadre of medical talent includes:
Doctor Tyler Wison (Jamie Bamber), a hotshot neurosurgeon who has a well-earned god complex. Doctor Tina Ridgeway (Jennifer Finnigan), a compassionate neurosurgeon who’s willing to fight for cases that may seem like lost causes to others. Her home life is in turmoil so she finds refuge at the hospital.
Doctor Sung Park (Keong Sim) is a Korean-American and is abrupt socially and English-challenged. He’s also ambitious to the core with his searing intensity being palpable. Doctor Sydney Napur (Sarayu Rao) is a cardiothoracic surgeon who’s married to the job. A compulsive multi-tasker, she speaks quickly and takes absolutely no prisoners.
Doctor Buck Tierney (Bill Irwin) is the hospital’s Chief of Transplantation. A man driven to the point of bullish, he is least liked among the Chelsea General staff. Doctor Michelle Robidaux (Emily Swallow) is a twenty-something resident. Inexperienced yet eager, she is finding her footing among experienced giants.
Episode #10 — Family Ties
Hooten and Buck find themselves facing off in court against attorney Mitch Tompkins (guest Anthony Heald) after a grieving son refuses to comply with his mother’s final wishes.
Sydney’s outrage over the health of a morbidly obese 16-year-old boy further strains her relationship with Lieberman (guest Jonathan Silverman). And a seemingly harmless patient (guest Kenneth Mitchell) puts one of Chelsea General’s own in grave danger.
First aired: April 8, 2013.
What do you think? Do you like the Monday Mornings TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for another season?
I really enjoyed this show — excellent acting & the medical show seemed so realistic. I think that the name of the show may be was the “problem” & the time slot. At least give it another chance. And give it some good advertising!! Please, please bring this show back!!
I was wondering what happened to this show and now I have come to find out that it has been canceled! You mean to tell me that they finally put a show together that I made sure to make it home to see for every episode and now they cancel it! The programers or whomever is in charge of making decisions needs to be canceled!
I hate to see that the show was cancelled my husband and I really enjoyed the show and was anticipating the second season. what a shame.
I and my husband really liked the show and look forward to each new episode it covered all medical issues and made you think about what happen in the todays world around us and how we accept things at face value this show made you think and that was good Please bring it back it is truly a realistic show to watch and the characters well played bring it back
So sad to hear this show was canceled–I would vote to have it return as it had great content and wonderful story lines.
I was happy to find a show that kept my interest. I looked forward to many more episodes, so of course it was cancelled!
This was truly a ‘reality’ show. Cancel the other reality shows and bring back monday mornings! Get rid of kardashians, survivor, fear factor, etc. Only braindead people watch those shows. I even got my family to watch this and they want it back too!
I am very disappointed Monday Mornings has not been renewed! It was something to look forward to and I enjoyed the cast of characters! What a shame that a tv series that is authentic, and portrays another side of medicine cannot capture an audience.
I loved this show. Just checked on the 2nd series and found out it was cancelled. Can’t believe it!!
I am sorely disappointed. I agree with so many of the comments I read about the show. It was intelligent, well written and the actors were incredible. Perhaps because it wasn’t mediocre was the reason it didn’t appeal to more people – more’s the shame!
What a shame this show was cancelled. Reality shows are for dimwits and stupidos. I won’t give in to watching that crape. Bring us something intelligent! !!
After 48 years working as an RN in hospitals I really loved this show. Cancelling it was about as bad as cancelling Star Trek. Lots of people begged that Star Trek not be discontinued and it did no good. I guess this one is hopeless too.
I was looking forward to a 2nd season and more. This was an EXCELLENT show and I am so sorry to see it was cancelled. Too much scripted “reality” TV and not enough that simply entertains you and makes you think. Loved this show…too bad they made a horrible decision to cancel it.
who are the idiots that made a very bad judgement call. point them out to me. Monday mornings was the very best new show for many years.
Well of course they cancelled it. It wasn’t reality TV aimed at tweens. Please show us a brain and bring this excellent show back!
