CBS has yet to renew the Friday night vampire series but that’s not stopping Moonlight executive producer Joel Silver and the show’s writers. They’re already plotting Moonlight’s second season.
While promoting the upcoming Speed Racer film, Silver talked about Moonlight’s prospects for a second year on CBS. He said, “We’re hopeful… I mean, the next episode goes on next Friday night [April 25th], which is a really great episode. It starts out, Mick [Alex O’Loughlin] is still human, but then he has to go back to being a vampire. And I have three more really strong episodes. And I hope that it does come back, because we have a whole plan for next year that’s fantastic.”
The network has been on the fence about renewing Moonlight though it seems like the chances are good. Silver says that he’s scheduled to meet with CBS programming executives to talk about the show’s future. “Well, we’re going to go in, as a matter of fact, next week for a pitch meeting to tell them what we’re going to do next year.”
Based on what the programmers hear and the performance of the new episodes, they’ll decide whether Mick St. John will return to walk the streets of Los Angeles next fall. CBS announces its 2008-09 schedule in mid-May. Stay tuned! 
You have to make the second season it is a good show but you did not give it a chance you did not advertise for it as much as desperate house wives or any other show. Moonlight is a special show and one of a kind it takes a different path than any other vampires shows or movies.
Oh, yes, btw, Robert Pattinson’s character is a boy, Alex O’Loughlin’s character Mick St. John is a man. I’ll take the manly man over any kid character any day.
Unfortunately, there will never be a second season of Moonlight, CBS cancelled it and replaced it with the Ex-List tv show. The Ex-List lasted only 4 episodes on CBS and was cancelled. Joel Silver asked Alex if he would do a Moonlight movie back Dec. 2008, Alex said yes. Silver has two other movie projects coming up, none of which is Moonlight. i would like to see the show make a comeback because with the twilightmania people dont remember what a vampire should look feel act like and moonlihgt hit it in perfect and that is what brought me in as a fan and by the first episode last year i knew then i would never miss an episode and i never did they could diffently bring this show back cbs has what ncis csi criminal minds and the mentalist that are great in the eyes of america moonlight season 2 could easily surpass the rest i mean look at scifis friday… Read more »

I am an avid reader of vampire books, and this was one of the best shows since Angel. Please bring it back. It had the right mix between characters and plot line. As the others state all age groups enjoyed it. It is so worth another season!!!

Please Let Moonlight come back,, its like the most awsome and amazing show ever,, no vampire show can ever relate to how good and fantastic this show is , plus the actors are soooo made for their part, its very too reat and thrilling. I LOVE IT and so do like thousands and millions of ppl,, so dnt take this away from us CBS plz!!

This is my favorite show in the world im so addicted to it. i want another seires. mick and beth are perfect for each other. this was the best show on TV for all groups. my grandfather got me addicted and i got my sis and bro and mother and father addicted to the show we all love it and would love for it to come on CBS
I really like this show. The cast is perfect. The way the story develop is intense.You always wants to know what happen with Mick and Beth. Still, I want to know, what happen with Josef and Coraline?. I appreciate when a series is well write and produce. This is time for Vampires and Ghost they have MANY followers( You see the last Nielsen Ghost Whisperer the top of the shows on Friday(they don’t count with the re-runs of Moonlight in SCI- FI).
