TV show description:
This crime drama has a unique twist in that it doesn’t focus on who committed a crime, but why the crime was committed in the first place. As the mystery unfolds, winding between revealing flashbacks and present time, viewers navigate the twisted and complicated maze of each murder, solving the puzzle alongside the detectives, piecing together more of the mysterious connections that drove the killer to commit murder.
When a murder is committed, Detectives Angie Flynn (Kristin Lehman) and Oscar Vega (Louis Ferreira) are on the case, looking for clues that will lead them to the killer.
Sexy and feisty, Angie is a thirty-something single mom from the wrong side of the tracks who proves that appearances can be deceiving. Oscar is intelligent, thoughtful, methodical and confident. He comes from a wealthy family and turned his back on an expensive Harvard Divinity School education to join the police force (a change of heart from his initial choice of joining the priesthood).
Others on the homicide team are: Doctor Betty Rogers (Lauren Holly), a medical examiner with a quirky sense of humor that belies the grimness of her daily job. Staff Sergeant Boyd Bloom (Roger Cross), the Squad Room Supervisor who was sidelined from the streets a few years earlier by a bullet. Detective Brian Lucas (Brendan Penny), a young eager beaver detective and newlywed who’s eager to learn and is fascinated about the often grisly procedures.
Angie doesn’t suffer fools or authority figures lightly. At home, Angie only wants the best for her teenage son, Manny (Cameron Bright), who is one of the few things in life that she feels she did right. But as far as Manny’s concerned, being the son of a cop is not the easiest gig in the world.

What do you think? Do you like the Motive TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fifth season?
Motive should not be cancelled. One of the best shoes on TV amongst a lot of crap we are being subjected to. Cast is terrific, writing and production superb!
I love Motive as well, it would be great to reconsider the cancellation. Will miss my old car!
Motive should be renewed! It’s unique. It’s approachable without being predictable. Good characters and cast! Well directed and edited. Holds one’s attention. Should be continued!
Thank you!
Terrific show, different to most police series. Actors are professional and great. Should continue and not be cancelled.
Watch the Fall on Netflix, it’s withGillien Anderson, excellent series. The crap on the TV with these reality shows and stupid sit-comsa re a waste of time…
This is a great TV Series and should NOT be cancelled the US does not give good programming a chance and they keep bringing crap back so there is nothing decent to watch in the evening, also by the time a show comes back on the air you have forgotten what it’s about.
I love the series Motive!
This is the problem with networks here in the US, they don’t give good programming any real support. This show has done well in Canada, which btw continues to have good programming, but if it isn’t flashy or reality based the networks here don’t give any real effort toward advertising the shows that have any real thought provoking content. I really loved this format, seeing who the killer and the victim were in the beginning and watching the detectives unravel it through the clues and witnesses they found. Excellent idea and execution through direction. Too bad. Hopefully I can still… Read more »
i loved motive and miss it please bring it back
I would really like to see this renewed! I am sick of the reality shows!
Me too, so tired of Reality shows
And I find out I am not the only one that doesn’t watch the not so real “reality shows”. American networks need to learn a lesson from the BBC and Canadian networks to produce entertaining shows rather than the fake reality shows they are producing.
Love the tv series Motive! I want to see many more seasons.
I’m not sure but it might be on HULU or Netflix, it’s worth looking into it if you really want to look at the reruns…
I loved this show! I had it set up as a series recording then my DVR lost all of my recording settings. I’ve been looking every season for Motive to come back on!
This show set itself apart by its theme, and a wonderful set of characters, who all fit together as a special mix. I don’t think the Canadians are smarter than us in the US. But to cancel the US show is really stupid. Some things are magic that can not be measure in the “ratings” that are not very accurate anyway. I live in a small town of 900 – 1000, and know most everybody. This show was one of the most discussed at gatherings, coffee shops, birthday parties (for adults), etc. Not of of several hundred people that I’ve… Read more »
I love the show, it’s interesting and different than all the other cop shows. I sure hope it doesn’t get cancelled. The actors are great also. ABC should RENEW this series or let another network pick it up.
