While The Carmichael Show was renewed today, NBC has decided they don’t want a second season of Mr. Robinson. The network has cancelled the show after a short season of six episodes.
Mr. Robinson revolves around the lead singer and keyboardist (Craig Robinson) of a funk band. While waiting for his big break, he takes a job as a substitute high school music teacher. The kids think his class is an easy A, while Craig is moved to inspire his students. The rest of the cast includes Peri Gilpin, Ben Koldyke, Brandon T. Jackson, Spencer Grammer, Amandla Stenberg, Tim Bagley, and Meagan Good.
Airing after America’s Got Talent, the three-week season averaged a 1.02 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.94 million viewers. The Carmichael Show, which generated more buzz and positive reviews, drew about the same ratings but the network apparently felt like they didn’t want to renew both of them. Robinson’s final episode aired on August 19th.
What do you think? Did you like the Mr. Robinson TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
I love Craig Robinson. His show needed better writers and an original story line. He is talented so I’m sure he’ll get a better show.
The show was horrible. I figured it would be cancelled. Craig tries too hard to be funny and ends up looking stupid. I can’t believe Meagan Good starred in that crap. I hope she does better with Minority Report. NBC must be having hard times to have put that ******** on tv and think that it would gain success.
it had potential. reminded me of the steve harvey show, just the comedy fell flat.
Craig Robinson was good on the office but I have to admit I am glad they cancelled Mr. Robinson. I tried watching it for two weeks a total of 4 shows. After that I deleted it from DVR.
After five minutes I found the show to be horrendously written and acting by some atrocious. It deserved cancellation.
Craig Robinson deserved a much higher quality show. This thing played like something from 1985.
What should have happened was that NBC execs should never put a show that was not ready for airing. It was not written or developed enough to be on tv. I guess the rush to put a “Black Show” on becausee of this new found trend of Black being in again. Please put shows on that are smart and intelligent instead of rushed and not funny. That show actually had potential, it just wasn’t developed well.
Ditto
Not at all a bad show, but it was doomed by low Neilsens.
I liked Mr Robinson better but I’m just an insignificant viewer!
