Two new actors are coming to the fifth season of Nashville on CMT. Cameron Scoggins will recur as Silicon Valley billionaire, Zach Welles, a Rayna Jaymes (Connie Britton) fan. Deadline says, “Boyish, ebullient and personable, Zach is a nerd who made good, and though still a nerd, he has the confidence and self-image of someone who isn’t.”
Joseph David-Jones will recur as musician Clay. In his mid-20s, Clay is reportedly destined for greatness. Deadline says, “He is a creative, self-aware, highly motivated young man who suffers intense mood swings but nonetheless is charming and outgoing. His musical style is eclectic, with modern elements but also nods to African-American roots music, bluegrass and even classic country.”
Scoggins played Bruce on the Black Box TV series, which was cancelled in 2014 by ABC, so he already has something in common with his Nashville co-stars. His other TV work includes appearances on The Good Wife, Elementary, Person of Interest, and The Blacklist.
Joseph David-Jones appeared on Intelligence which was cancelled after one season on CBS. He has also played Green Arrow/Connor Hawke on The CW‘s DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. The Clay character was the focus of the Nashville casting call we covered, last month.
What do you think? How do you like the sound of the new characters? Are you getting excited for the Nashville TV series’ move to CMT?
