After struggling for years in the ratings, it seems that NBC is really starting to turn things around. Of course, they still have their challenges. Which NBC TV shows will be cancelled and which will be renewed? Stay tuned!
NBC shows this season (so far): A to Z, About a Boy, AD: The Bible Continues: Allegiance, America’s Got Talent, American Ninja Warrior, American Odyssey, Aquarius, Bad Judge, The Biggest Loser, The Blacklist, The Celebrity Apprentice, Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, Constantine, Dateline, Dateline Saturday Night Mystery, Grimm, Hannibal, Hollywood Game Night, I Can Do That, The Island, Last Comic Standing, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Marry Me, Mr. Robinson, The Mysteries of Laura, The Night Shift, One Big Happy, Parenthood, Parks and Recreation, Running Wild with Bear Grylls, The Sing-Off, The Slap, State of Affairs, Undateable, The Voice, and Welcome to Sweden.
There’s lots of data that NBC looks at when deciding whether to renew or cancel a TV series but the ratings are typically the biggest piece. Here’s how the network’s shows are doing.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated charts, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here and here.
A couple of notes about these charts:
These figures are updated automatically as new ratings are released. The averages are based on the final national numbers (live plus same day viewing), unless marked with an asterisk (*). For technical reasons, I have to resort them manually so feel free to let me know if I missed something.
Keep in mind that the demo numbers are typically what’s most important to advertisers. Therefore, that’s how the networks measure success. Advertisers pay more for ad time on a show that has a higher demo rating. Because older viewers don’t count? No, it’s because younger viewers watch less traditional TV and are harder to reach.
Demo numbers are typically reported using the 10ths decimal place (2.4, for example). In the averages, I’m using an extra decimal for easier ranking. The networks take into account when shows air on Fridays and Saturdays, nights when TV viewership is lower.
What do you think? Which shows are you rooting for? Which one isn’t as big a hit as you thought? Are you hoping any series will get cancelled to make way for something else?
I truly adore CONSTANTINE, this is hands down the best thing I’ve seen!!! The acting in this show is phenomenal!!!! The stories are amazing, **** beautifully! Brilliant!!!!!!bravo!
Keep Mysteries of Laura, good show for the 8:00 slot, clean and quirky at the same time
the blacklist is amazing , james spader is also, and state of affairs and grimm are right up there too.
I hope that NBC will continue Allegiance. It is a good show and has great actors. It is unfortunate that the night they placed it on was not a good fit, but definitely they could have considered changing the viewing time to another night. NBC please consider giving Allegiance another chance!
Love the Blacklist. It’s good to see James Spader again after all these years.
MYSTERIES OF LAURA….. LOVE THIS. SHOW !!! Renew…..thank you , have a nice day…..
The only NBC TV network shows I even bother to watch this season are Chicago Fire, and
Chicago PD the rest suck and so I find that I watch more TV shows on CBS and NBC along with FOX!
I love’d A to Z, and NBC didn’t really give it a chance. Airing new shows Vs Veteran shows/Shandaland shows is not good for their programs, the actors, or the crew. They need to take strong shows from Other nights and put them up VS Shandaland, try doing BlackList > Chicago Fire > Chicago P.D. and watch how your shows pick up Viewers!(or they can switch C. Fire and BlackList) Or alternatively SVU instead of the blacklist, as they are always doing 3 show cross overs in the same universe. (not something Shandaland does) I don’t like Dateline, I will… Read more »
Hello, I do think Grimm is really good and I agree with you about it. I disagree on Constantine, He is British based on the comic book Hellblazer (John Constantine) which is from Liverpool, the actor is amazing in my opinion and has studied the comics because to me at least he is spot on in the way he acts… Constantine has always been a favorite of mine as a comic and a tv show, it can be dull at time but soon it will pick up and be one of the best out there I know where they are… Read more »
my favorite NBC shows are Blacklist, State of Affairs, Dateline.
I don’t like the sitcoms, too silly for me.
I don’t like Constantine, Grimm or Hannibal. I’d not miss them at all.
Don’t care for American Odyssey. Would rather see State of Affairs.
Loved AD The bible
I agree about the sitcoms. Love the Blacklist. As for Dateline, I don’t want to watch a news program on Friday night. There’s already too much real life ugly in the world. I was addicted to ID Discovery for a long while, but all the death and murder got to be too much. I’m looking for a respite, an escape from the daily grind. I love Grimm, but hated Constantine, Hannibal and Dracula. Grimm is Buffy the vampire Slayer for grownups, and I loved that show. With the renewal, at least they’ll have four years and I’ll be satisfied. Can’t… Read more »
KEEP American Odessy. Stop Grim. C’mon give American Odessy s chance NBC renew it!
LEEAVE BONES ON THE AR
SLushy dc dysy
NBC should renew THE MYSTERIES OF LAURA. It’s a fun show. It would do much better with a strong lead-in.
NBC should renew THE MYSTERIES OF LAURA. It’s a fun and funny show. It would do much better with lead-in support.
I hope Constantine is renewed!
The Blacklist is one of the most well written exciting show to hit T.V. in a long time. I am addicted to it like “Sons of Anarchy”. Love it and have shared it with many who have also joined the Fan list.
