Since Dr. Topher Zia (Ken Leung) is now gone, and Dr. Julian Cummings (James McDaniel) purchased the hospital, will the staff of San Antonio Memorial be able to keep it together? Will the ratings rise or fall? Will The Night Shift TV show be cancelled or renewed for season five? Stay tuned.
An NBC medical drama, The Night Shift stars Robert Bailey Jr., Eoin Macken, Jill Flint, Brendan Fehr, Scott Wolf, Tanaya Beatty, and JR Lemon, with Mark Consuelos recurring in season four. Although they’re kind of quirky, San Antonio Memorial’s emergency room night shift staff is extraordinary. They’ll risk almost anything to save their patients. Season three ended with Paul Cummings (Bailey) leading a staff walk-out after his father bought the hospital and fired Topher. Meanwhile, overseas, TC Callahan (Macken) was knocked out, during a refugee camp bombing. The fourth season picks up two days later, with everyone dealing with the consequences of their decisions. In Syria, TC’s proclivity for chaos helps him save people.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
9/1 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The third season of The Night Shift averaged a 0.98 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.998 million total viewers.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Did you still like The Night Shift TV series? Should it have been cancelled or renewed for a fifth season?

Must have another season!
Please continue this show! We love it!
I love the show! My whole family looks forward to watching. Please keep it going.
Season 4 was on of the best seasons ever! Especially when you had a show where the American Veterans directed, and had a say! Been in the health field I can relate, and my daughter’s look forward to this show for a lot of lessons, history, and knowledge comes out of it. So for a sister that had a brother that served in the Navy, and cousins in guards, and son still actively serving in the guards. Please don’t take the show off There is so much that you can teach the American people and support the military.
Thank you
Nightshift is great series, especially for all the military dedication they show. For veterans like myself, my husband and our friends who are still serving, this show is a great reminder of why we served and are still serving.
Love this show. Don’t leave us hanging at the end of season four.Networks need to change their demographic ages. Many of us over 49 still are active members of the viewing audiences.
Please renew for a season 5
This is a great series and I’m really hoping it comes back for a fifth season. There are so many more stories to tell!!
Please renew this show for another season. The season finale was cut in half because of a preseason football game. I look forward to watching every week.
This is a great show. It deals with many issues that face civilians and Veterans both. I certainly hope it gets renewed. This is a good show for adults.

Yespecially The Night Shift should definitely not be cancelled very good show. My problem was the season finale has to be cut due to Football. NOT FAIR if the game runs over the show should be in its entirety. Season finale really supposed to be really important not cut in half to save time. I’m very disappointed.
Please don’t cancel this show!! It’s my favorite.
Please RENEW a very fine show. Something to look forward to in the Summer season. Plenty of room to explore many story lines with vets and Mark’ss role Keep it Going.
