ABC’s mid-season medical drama, Off the Map, recently concluded its first season on the air. The alphabet network’s been looking for a new hit drama and this one was produced by veteran producers of Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice. How does Off the Map stack up? Will it be cancelled or renewed for season two?
Off the Map revolves around six doctors who have “lost their way” and travel to a remote South American jungle to help those in need and to try to rediscover the reasons why they wanted to become physicians. The series features the talents of Caroline Dhavernas, Jason George, Jonathan Castellanos, Mamie Gummer, Martin Henderson, Rachelle Lefevre, Valerie Cruz, and Zach Gilford.
The medical drama premiered with a mediocre 2.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.57 million viewers. The TV series won its timeslot but was disrupted in some parts of the country by coverage of the Tucson Memorial. ABC decided to give Off the Map another chance to attract viewers by rerunning the first episode the following night, in place of a Private Practice rerun, and it retained much of the Grey’s Anatomy lead-in audience.
Unfortunately, that’s still not a great start and subsequent episodes of Off the Map essentially drew fewer and fewer viewers each week. The final episode of the season hit a series low and attracted a very poor 1.3 rating in the demo with only 3.80 million viewers.
Off the Map is the second-lowest scripted series on ABC that hasn’t already been officially cancelled, averaging a 1.7 in the demo and 4.96 million viewers. It ranks below doomed No Ordinary Family and just above doomed Detroit 1-8-7. In short, unless ABC really needs to keep Shonda Rhimes happy, there is no reason why the network would bring Off the Map back next year for season two.

We absolutely Love this show! My daughter, husband and I have watched ever episode. Each time left patiently waiting for the next. I couldn’t figure out what happened last week. We’d be so disappointed if they cancel this show. Fact is I think alot of people are watching it but also taping other channels.Why does ABC & other networks insist upon piting one show against the other. This is my very favorite show!! I can not believe it may not be on next season. A better time slot would increase your ratings. I usually DVR it because I love to watch it with my son but 10 pm is too late for him on a school night. LOVE LOVE LOVE the show!
I LOVE Off the MAP!! It is a great show! I do not normally watch ABC shows, but stumbled upon it and it became my favorite show. PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL IT!!

Love Off the Map…………..My favorite show on TV. In fact, other than sports and Modern Family, its the only show I care to watch. Great character development, interesting storylines ( some a bit far-fetched, however), and the show has HEART. The scenery alone is enough to tune in for, but the McGuyver aspects of show make it very entertaining.
GIVE IT A CHANCE. RENEW IT. LET IT FIND ITS AUDIENCE. AFTER ALL, YOU CANT CANCEL A SHOW WITH MERYL STREEP’S DAUGHTER IN THE CAST AFTER JUST ONE SEASON. THAT’S BAD FOR THE UNIVERSE.

Please don’t cancel this show. It is one of my favorite shows. I am not a fan of reality TV – they are all the same. And I agree with whoever commented about the many varieties of CSI – but it’s all the same show. Off the Map is so different – I love the Amazon setting, the cast, and the storyline. I have watched it online if I had to miss a week, but I was so disappointed there was no new episode last week.
I hope they do not cancel the show. I love it. I am a big Grey’s fan, but think it is slowing losing my interest. Not to mention it would suck to leave everything hanging.

with that twist of sensitivity and relationships. Come on Season II!!!
I hope they bring this show back, it is one of the few shows that I looked forward to week and week to watch, I was disappointed the last few weeks when it has not been on.
