ABC had high hopes for Off the Map, their new medical drama from veteran producers of Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice. Unfortunately things didn’t go as planned and ABC has now cancelled Off the Map after one season on the air.
Off the Map follows the lives of six doctors who have “lost their way” and have traveled to a remote South American jungle to try to rediscover why they wanted to become physicians.
The TV series’ cast includes Caroline Dhavernas, Jason George, Jonathan Castellanos, Mamie Gummer, Martin Henderson, Rachelle Lefevre, Valerie Cruz, and Zach Gilford.
The TV series premiered to a disappointing 2.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.57 million viewers. The show won its timeslot but was disrupted in some parts of the country by coverage of the Tucson Memorial. As a result, ABC reran the premiere Off the Map the following night.
For whatever reason, subsequent episodes of Off the Map essentially drew fewer and fewer viewers each week. The final episode of the season hit a series low and attracted a very poor 1.3 rating in the demo with only 3.80 million viewers.
Despite having some very passionate fans, Off the Map ended up being one of the lowest dramas on ABC. It’s no surprise then that the network has now decided against ordering a second season, cancelling the show. All 13 episodes have aired and we likely won’t find out what became of the young doctors left in the jungle.

This show was awesome and it was something me and my mom watched every week as our special show. I am VERY disappointed that they cancelled the show. They should not give out shows unless they are allowed to have more than one season it is not fair for people to get hooked on the first season and not have even 1 more.
Please bring it back!!!!!!
i am extremely upset , this show was good and I think ABC is to blame on the time slot. I watched this show every week online because I could never catch it on tv. I think every show deserves a series finale and this one is no different. They should at least bring the show back for one more season so that it can have the proper series finale and an ending that does not leave the audience wondering. PLEASE if there is some way of getting the show back on the air then this needs to happen.

I guess I’ll be watching Fox next fall because I’m certainly not going to patronize the network that cancelled Off the Map and V and retained so many silly, mindless sitcoms.
are you kidding me????? With such few good shows on the air, why would they cancel OTM? Quality programming. I couldn’t wait until the next show. Get rid of the reality shows and keep the good ones. Please!
not cool at all the only show i actually followed and loved its not fair to end it like that
this was actually my favorite show the only show i ever have watched religiously because it had a different approach and it is definately not cool how they ended it not cool at all!!!! super upset

I am extremely diappointed! I have watched all the episodes, some even twice and really wanted to continue watching the second season! Especially since they ended the 1st one so abruptly and with so many cliff-hangers. At least give me some inside information into what wouldv’e happened. Did Matteo die? Was Ryan going to die? Would that have left things open for Lilly and Keeton? And whatever happens to Charlie and his cute little crush that he has on Lilly? And what does Minard say to Fuller? I’m not happy at all!!! I have tried to watch other doctor shows (house, greys) but none held me like Off the Map!! Best show since ER!!! They really need to bring it back!!!!
