ABC had high hopes for Off the Map, their new medical drama from veteran producers of Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice. Unfortunately things didn’t go as planned and ABC has now cancelled Off the Map after one season on the air.
Off the Map follows the lives of six doctors who have “lost their way” and have traveled to a remote South American jungle to try to rediscover why they wanted to become physicians.
The TV series’ cast includes Caroline Dhavernas, Jason George, Jonathan Castellanos, Mamie Gummer, Martin Henderson, Rachelle Lefevre, Valerie Cruz, and Zach Gilford.
The TV series premiered to a disappointing 2.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.57 million viewers. The show won its timeslot but was disrupted in some parts of the country by coverage of the Tucson Memorial. As a result, ABC reran the premiere Off the Map the following night.
For whatever reason, subsequent episodes of Off the Map essentially drew fewer and fewer viewers each week. The final episode of the season hit a series low and attracted a very poor 1.3 rating in the demo with only 3.80 million viewers.
Despite having some very passionate fans, Off the Map ended up being one of the lowest dramas on ABC. It’s no surprise then that the network has now decided against ordering a second season, cancelling the show. All 13 episodes have aired and we likely won’t find out what became of the young doctors left in the jungle.

BRING IT BACK!!! OR **** ABC and have a different station pick up the show!!!! How can they end the season with that insane season finale and then leave us all hanging!!!!! Bring it back bring it back ! that was my favourite show!!! (other than one tree hill)
This show needs to be brought back!!! One of the best dramas out there!! Far better than any reality show. Besides Martin Henderson is soooooo not hard on the eyes. I could look at him all day. Oh wait, I do, he is my screensaver LOL
Bring Off The Map back. We absolutely LOVED the show and are quite to disappointed to learn it got cancelled.

I agree as well. I’m so sick of reality television! I’m getting to the point where I’d rather be doing just about anything else at night other than watch television. I have a few favorites that I watch and once in awhile will get hooked on something new. Then they cancel it after 1 season…and replace it with….oh guess what—Another reality TV show—Just what we need, NOT!!!! I guess some people must really enjoy them. I really enjoyed watching this show. Im not a fan of reality TV this was a good show which shouldn’t have been cancelled.
Sure not many people watch it. But who cares if not many people do. At least you know that there are people who watch it. People who wanna see it played out to see what happens. I stood and still stand faithful by off the map. I watched every single episode, and got upset when the season finale came, Not because it wasnt good (which it WAS GOOD) but because it was ending. For the sake of the people who loved it, If they dont do a season 2, Imma kick ABC’s asses.
I can not believe you cancelled this show. It was the only Dr kind of show I watched in fact I would record it if I was not going to be home, It was that good. Please bring it back !!I want to know what happened to the doctors and who is saving who next….
Abc needs to bring this show back! It had a wonderful mixture of drama romance and comedy! Knowing it is cancelled makes me cry!!! 🙁

My whole family loved this show and was looking forward to a new season. Super disappointing. The show made us squirm when we watched it because of the graphic nature of the medical situations, but that’s why we liked it. It was one of a kind.

BRING OFF THE MAP BACK!!!!!!!! (maybe it was too smart of a show or maybe they should have done a musical episode like Grey’s did (THEY didn’t get cancelled) —yuck)
This was a very unique medical show set in a beautiful local with great actors/characters…….THAT’S why it was cancelled. Too many great shows get cancelled while “reality tv” is taking over the airwaves and some of our “veteran” tv shows are getting really good at helping insomniacs FINALLY fall asleep (snooze). So if you end up watching and then actually liking a great show, then it is sure to go bye-bye.
